Has anyone's scout actually found/discovered a good/great prospect
In all their 'hunts' overseas?
Literally all my scout finds are 20/21 potential prospects (20/80 scale).

Quick answer is 'yes, but not very often'. Posted a bit more about that here:

I don't mean that. I mean when your scout emails you with a 16 year old starting pitcher he discovered in Panama or whatever.

On the 1-5 star potential rating over 2 1/2 years I remember one 5 star, a few 1 or 1 1/2 stars and a whole lot of absolute scrubs.

I did. The OP mentions Darvish, Cepedes and the like. Again, that's not what I'm referring to.

Yes.

Has anyone's scout actually found/discovered a good/great prospect
There are some gems but most of the talent are the publicly known IFA's you see once July 1st hit.
Which is the way it should be btw. |

Re: Has anyone's scout actually found/discovered a good/great prospect
In 5 years of my Angels sim I've found two or three guys that were above the 20-21 potential ceiling of most discoveries.
My current starting SS was a 67 POT when my GM spotted him at 16 and now he's a 72/76 at age 21. Last edited by glenwillett; 04-15-2013 at 02:38 PM. |

It's my first year, but the international period just ended (everyone was signed), and my Red Sox and the AI Yankees were aggressively bidding against one for the services of a sixteen year old Cuban national. Arturo Romero is 6'2, 175 lbs., throws five different pitches, and has a ground ball rate of 60%. My scout projects him to be an above average middle of the rotation starter. I gave him a bonus of $1,750,000. Here's to hoping he pans out!
