Manually expanding the league after 2013
Hi...
I like to make and run expansion teams in ootp.... Now I've discussed this before.....which is better.. expanding at the start of pre season? that way all records are set to 0...but it's late in the FA season and a lot of good FAls are gone.. or, is it safe to expand a day after FA's hit the market... this allows a shot at the best FA's... but I'm wondering if it will screw up the records and the alminac..... a little advice would be appreciated... thanks |

I do the exact same thing when I expand...that way the new teams arent drafting players that will become free agents a few days later if a new contract isn't hammered out. I figure the new teams can draft players who are under contract for at least one season and then they get the same shot at the free agent pool as all of the other teams when the draft is completed.

So, when manually expanding November 1 is the best time so they get to hit the free agent pool before most of the top draws are gone? January 1 might be easier, but they have a lower quality pool to sign from (but I like expansion clubs to suffer, so that might be interesting in itself).
