Question I've had & never asked ...
This isn't just limited to OOTP14 ... I've wondered this, but never tried it or asked with past versions ...
For example, if a person is curious about whether the Padres would do better if they moved in the fences at Petko, if you go to San Diego's Edit Ballpark and change the distance figures, will it be reflected in the power numbers for teams there during the next season's game results? Or, is there something further you would need to do? Or, are the true distances imbedded in the game to where it won't make any difference to change the dimensions of real ballparks?

The wall distances are cosmetic and do not contribute to HR numbers. However, each park has a "home run factor" for right and left handed batters which you can certainly modify and do tests. I don't have the game in front of me so I can't tell you exactly where it is - but it is in the same set of screens as the wall dimensions.

Changing the park factors absolutely affects stats. Be careful because even though an increase from, say, .800 to .875 doesn't seem like much it can cause a pretty large change.
e: best example I can give you is I did a franchise with the Rockies in 13 to try out the 4 man rotation idea and I lowered the overall home run factor by about .100 and it cut my team ERA from almost five to mid-high threes Last edited by IcePhoenix; 04-12-2013 at 07:22 PM. |

there was that spread sheet with park factors for all the parks like....ever, and it had a tab where you can enter park dimensions and other things and it will generate park factors for you.
I got the spreadsheet a few years ago on the old mod site, but I would look at the new one and see if you see something called Stadium Chart or the like. Should help out with what you are trying to do.

So if that does actually change how the game performs, I think I'll try it and see what happens for a season or two ... Thanks to all who answered! |

I have found the numbers manually
Say you want to pretend the Yankees never changed their park in 1975. You could start a season in 1970, open the stadium in the editor and look at the park factors. Compare it to shea and you'll see a big difference. Then look at the astrodome, and you'll have a nice range of numbers to guide you.
