Well you are right. Everyone should play the game like he wants. There is also the commissioner mode, but there you can't change the cap right now. Maybe in future ? So is there another way to change salary cap ?

I had a problem with the salary cap and it wouldnt let me continue on until I lowered my payroll which I didnt know how to do as I tried a few things in the end I edited a few players salary to $0 just to get the game going. When I play ootp baseball I dont use commisioner mode but I would like to know how to reduce your teams salary cap if you have exceeded it legitamely

For example:

I just changed Sidney Crosbys contract to 1 dollar per year for the next ten years. But what i noticed is, his Cap Hit remains at 8,700,000 Dollars... strange. And the pay roll also doesnt't decrease...
And you can lower as much player contracts as you want. In the team finances page the Cap Hit will always remain at the same value...

You can edit the salary cap for the different leagues, but only during the off-season starting on July 1st. Also, in comissioner mode you can edit anyone's contract, although as pointed out, sometimes the cap hit doesn't change. It usually will change though.
