Stunting player development
Does bringing a player up to the majors too early stunt development?
In other words, is a 5-star prospect in AAA more likely to live up to his potential if I wait until the scouts recommend that he be brought up before I call him to the majors? |

Keep an eye on his stats. Make him prove it in AAA, statisitically. Then give him a September call-up with an invite to spring training. To answer your question: Yes, coming up too soon will hurt his development. See here |

Leaving a "ready" player in AAA may cause him to regress. I'm a strong believer in being too early vs too late. It doesn't take very long to see if a player is out of his depth. If so you send him down.

Be careful bringing players up too soon.
Why start the arbitration clock on a player that isn't fully ready? If you find out that he is overmatched and you have to send him down then you will have wasted an option as well. It's definitely better to err on the side of caution. It's much better for many reasons to be one year too late than one year too soon. This: Attachment 281249 This guy will never be the same. I brought him up one year too soon. Last edited by Honorable_Pawn; 12-16-2015 at 06:57 PM. |

Everyone has their own managerial style and opinion on this. There are many, mine is one, yours another.
