I just can't get this right (MLB Ballparks and .dat files)
I've been playing OOTP since v5 and I still can't get an easy way to put MLB ballparks into my game easily.
I created a new game with MLB Structure (full minors). All teams are there with logos/jerseys/etc. The ballparks all say "Mets Ballpark" "Dodgers Ballpark" etc which I would expect. 1. Can I get a new game to default to the MLB Parks the same way it does with Jerseys and Logos? 2. If not, what is the easiest way to get a parks.dat imported into my newly created league with the least amount of busy work? I tried installing the 2012 parks.dat from the add on central section but that didn't work. If I copy a parks.data file into my league save folder, I see the parks but they are all mis-assigned (ie, my single-A team has Fenway Park, etc.). I'm hoping to avoid going through every team (plus minors) to assign parks. Is there a way? ECD |

2012 All In 1 Prk Files.rar They need to be in the same folder as the ballpark pics are in. It can be a completely separate folder as long as the prk files and ballpark pics are together. Once you've got that, go to any teams setup page and click the edit ballparks tab on the bottom right. On that page click the import/export button and select auto import all ballparks. Navigate to the folder where you saved them. Everything is greyed out but that's ok it's normal, just click select and all the pics and ballpark data will be automatically loaded. To create your own prk files you first need to manually set everything up. Once your done, click the import/export button and select export all ballparks. This will save the .prk files and associated ballpark pics in the saved game's import export folder. These can then be moved to any folder of your choosing. Should you make any changes after importing .prk files, make sure you re export the ballpark data so those changes will be saved and ready to be used in any new game you set up. Hope this helps

My problem is, I start a new custom league with MLB 2012 structure (so I can start from an earlier year than 2012). The teams all have generic ballparks (Mets Stadium, Red Sox Ballpark, etc). Importing the .PRK files comes up with no matches because there are no stadiums named "Fenway Park" like the .PRK files are named. If I copy the parks.dat file in from the MLB quickstart, I get the right park names but they are all mis-assigned (Mets Single A team playing in Fenway Park, etc). So, I can import the .PRK files as long as there are stadiums with matching names already in my league, but I need a way to get those stadiums assigned to the right teams without manually picking each team. Hope this makes sense. |

Either one will work. For example: If your setup uses Red Sox ballpark rather than Fenway, rename Fenway Park.prk to Red Sox Ballpark.prk and re import, it'll load the correct ballpark and info for fenway. Or: Chenge Red Sox Ballpark in the game to Fenway Park and reimport the ballpark data. Unless tha game is just randomly assigning ballpark names to the teams, you only have to do it once. Then you can use those prk files for another setup. It's a bit of work, but not near as much as having to manually load all the pics again, set all the coordinates, etc. |
