I absolutely agree. I accidentally deleted a HoF caliber player from my game a couple of weeks ago. The game is far too unforgiving in this regard. Anyone can inadvertently click the wrong option in a drop-down or jump menu, especially when tired.

and a confirm button before signing free agents ! Because I did many offers and if they all accept I'm stuck with 12 free agents.

you're going to have people come on here and say they don't want another button to have to click. They say just be careful when clicking, but I agree I've done it before. I play on a laptop using the pad and sometimes its a bit tricky using the pad. So I've tried to do one thing and accidentally released my finger on delete player. It was awful.

You could try cloning the player and getting him back (at least his attributes, etc.) Then manually go in and edit his contract. But it messes up quite a bit in terms of team salary (paid vs due) , stats, etc.

Sorry for your loss!

Or at least a "tell the media he failed his physical" button.

Just withdraw the offers. Go to the pending offers screen and it's one click to withdraw the offer.

It's day by day sim...If they all accept the day before I'm stuck with them...or maybe an option to react by real time?

Exemple: I want to sim to next day but I got a message telling that at 11:45 Howard accepted the offer...I had the time to delete the 3rd batter superstar player contract that I offered to other players

Like in real life...everybody have a Plan B and it can go to Plan Z

IRL when GM's start pulling offers from the table of FA's their reputation takes a serious hit and nobody wants to sign for that team anymore.

If you're making multiple offers to FA's who all play at the same position, hoping one will sign so then you can just tell the others sorry, I don't want you now, well then that's on you as a GM.

I can't imagine as an FA, I'd sit there and say to you, OK, I'll just sit here and wait until you decide who you're signing. Sorry bud, if you make me an offer you better be serious. And I'm shopping my services elsewhere, not waiting for you to see which deal of the 2 or 3 works best for you. I want to play baseball, but just like you, my primary interest is me.

I sim a day at a time and have never had that happen. If you're offering contracts to multiple (3 or more) players at one position, that's your own fault. The problem with OOTP is there are no negotiations without offering a contract. In real life, GMs can talk with agents to get an idea of what the asking price is without making an offer. Since we can't do that in OOTP, we have to be a little more savvy, which means prioritizing who you want and offering only to the guys you want most.

I'm one of those people who would rather not have another button to have to click. But that's for things like advancing the day, or confirming a substitution. For something as dramatic as deleting a player from the league, I am wholeheartedly in support of a box saying "Are you SURE?"

I look at it this way: I don't want a pop-up asking if I'm sure I want to close a tab in my Internet browser, even though I might lose what I'm working on. But I WOULD want a pop-up asking me if I wanted to remove my Internet browser from the computer, which is a much more drastic action.

Plan Z? So, zombie ball players? (If you think games take a long time now to play, just wait until it's zombies taking the field!)

Really? I would've thought it'd be the opposite. If I have important work/information up and accidently click X because I have too many things up and make a mistake then I'm glad I have the pop-up "are you sure you want to close your browser" window.

In terms of deleting my browser, seems like uninstalling would be a more difficult process and unlikely to be a mistake?

Eh, you're probably right, it's not a very good analogy in hindsight. All I was trying to say was, I am fine with confirmation pop-ups for something that could catastrophically alter my game (deleting players), even though I have historically been against them for what I personally consider to be minor activities (simulating a day), regardless of whether those activities might not go the way I planned if I click the button accidentally.

I don't know what set up the OP has but it's impossible to delete a player inadvertently unless you are in permanent commissioner mode. So yes put me in as one who doesn't want a confirmation reminder.

As for the FA thing. Game the AI all you want but don't ask the game to bail you out of multiple offers. Please don't post how easy it is to win either.

Edit

Bold added to point out that no player can be deleted unless you voluntarily go into commissioner mode. That should be sufficient warning!

I always play in commissioner mode . I control every teams rosters. So a confirmation button would be good. Confirmations as in other programs should have the ability to be turned off if one so desires.

BTW I got my players back by closing OOTP without saving, then when I restarted I was back at the last save point. So only lost a few days of play.

I thanked Rich's post because I thought he made a good point. Then I read your's, and I thought your point was good, also.

I am glad to read that you were able to recover the players without losing much game time.

Enabling/disabling confirmations prior to player deletion would be a nice option to have.

Mo options, mo better.

Actually, it seems to move reasonably quickly...
