Spring Training in OOTP5
Just found(first time playing OOTP5) out there a spring training portion of the game after the free agent period. My league is just finishing free agency today and will now enter spring training.
I was just wondering is spring training just 30 or so games and you see how players play? I have a 1B who I want to move over to 3B but does not play 3B. Can I teach him 3B in this spring training period? If so is it successful? What other things occur in Spring training? Thanks |

Spring Training games aren't actually played out. You just get a chance to "spend" points to focus on various aspects of the players game. You can also use this time to try to train the player in a new position.

We don't see the games simulated, only the training results. You can designate your own emphasis by categories, i.e. defense, strike zone judgment, contact or power hitting, etc... or for the pitchers Pure Stuff, endurance, et al. As for teaching the player a new position, that option also exists with variable results. More logical progressions are generally more successful than say the attempt to make a SS a catcher. As goes the allotment of your points of emphasis in training, the general feeling here 'seems' to be to let the process ride with all 5's assigned across the board (the default) rather than deferring to coaches or making arbitrary decisions of your own (although I still choose the option with the players who I KNOW need my individual attention).
Upon completion you'll be given an option to view the results via html, (which is a bit confusing - I still get a lot of coding showing up in that screen) or you can view it later via the Player Development menu.
