4000 Hits, 1 Game

Two of my players just got their 2000th career MLB hit in the same game.

I'm more ignorant in the history of the game than I'm comfortable with- has this ever happened before? Also, it feels fantastic when a player that you've had forever (I acquired Rivas during his rookie year) excels in OOTP.

I have seen similar things happen, such as a couple (or three!) guys reaching 300 home runs on the same day, etc. It's a reminder that, after all is said and done, we are playing with a computer program.

funny though that the news articles kind of got it wrong.

The day did not belong to Sal Potts.

Makes me think when Paul Konerko and Jermaine Dye hit their 300th HR back to back.

What do you mean? I think this sort of circumstance is a great reminder of the stories the press would write should such a thing happen in real life - which is entirely plausible.

No, what I meant was that, given a computer program, two (or three) guys starting out as rookies in the same season with similar ratings, barring injuries, that they would be evaluated and processed alike as similar pieces of data and therefore would perhaps reach certain plateaus together at the same time. Because a computer is running the universe, not fate or God.

I have noticed this type of thing happening in my league over 62 years. It doesn't bother me and it's not out of the realm of possibility, as The Game pointed out in his real life example.

And yes, it would certainly be noteworthy for the press. It would be even cooler if the two stories cross-referenced each other!

First thing I thought of, too.

I see! Now, I'm wondering what Molson meant above?

The first news article says that the day belonged to Potts (one of the two 2,000 hit guys), when in reality, he shared the day with the other guy.

Just a case of the news engine hitting a scenario it's not really equipped to handle.

On the bright side, news stories are editable, so that little hiccup could be manually fixed.

Infractions: 0/1 (1)
I think that comes under the heading of "rare event."

According to OOTP itself, OOTP MLB play (modern and historical) outnumbers OOTP fictional play three to one.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.
