some of what comes will be complaints and ravings

yet some will be suggestions from long term gamers, and from those
with hockey expertise to offer help to improve the product

sometimes one semingly small suggestion implimented can have
quite a large overall impact on the finished product

i get the sense jeff will be a good centre for setting up his wingers
with the puck in good places...
just every so often, a d man needs to join the rush to fill an open
space

A+ for your analogy

I'm going to do a detailed update on what's coming in the beta sometime next week, probably in the first half of the week. There's still too much that can change at this point: stuff like playable leagues won't get nailed down until we see how the database looks after next Sunday's update, historical play is getting a lot of work right now (nope, no decision on the WHA yet, but the database work for it is 95+% done), and we may decide to pare some currently-active features back for the sake of short-term stability and then add them back in during the next few weeks.

Analogy aside, if anybody that ever played with me saw that, they'd get a good laugh; I'm the last guy you want playing centre. Better to take the pads off the backup goalie and put him there than use me.

JeffR, I know a lot of the beta options are still in the air, but I have a couple questions.

Chance of Mac version being included in the beta? And, if we purchase the beta, I know we get 2 licenses but can one be a Windows and one Mac? (I'm thinking of using the Windows license to download the exe and using wineskin if the Mac beta isn't included and testing it out that way).

Sebastian was hoping to have a Mac version working in time for the Beta release, but I haven't heard him mention it in a while, so I'd be slightly pessimistic about it being available right from the start. Re: the licenses, yes, you should be able to do that. I'll have a better answer for both when I do the detailed update next week.

My fingers are still massively crossed for the mac version. It doesn't sound great though.

I intend to ask a lot of questions and nitpick everything, but I would hope that the fact I'm a programmer means that those questions and nitpicks are sensible...

Alright. Thanks for the prompt reply.

I'm hoping for a Mac client but I understand its about getting the working Windows client out first. Worst comes to worst, I'll still pre-order it and try using the Windows license in Wineskin or on my Windows partition.

Reporting issues, and asking a question for the first time are much much different than asking a question that has been asked and answered 30 times, or complaining and whining about the same things over and over and over.

You know kind of how I complain about complainers.

I am just thinking that the reporting threads will become home to things such as "How come I can't name all the teams St Louis Blues. I want to make sure they win the Stanley Cup, Avco Cup, KHL and Memorial Cup all in one season. It would be a world record. And stories and stories about teams such as the Muskegon Muskateers in the Global McDermott Hocky League, and how come Alexandre De L'Orange cannot be signed by the Wilmington Wiffleballs of the Prairie Dog Chickens League.

I imagine there might be a some of that at first when we first get our hands on the beta an everyone is excited. However, this will be a long beta process and I think the volume of bug reports will decrease over time and become more constructive as people get comfortable with the process.

Wow, congrats to Jeff on his producer role with FHM!

I remember Jeff's amazing commitment to the EHM community even after SI had decided not to proceed, so we should see amazing results with a company totally behind the product backing him.

I look forward to testing the early beta of the game, it's been a long time between good hockey management games!

Just registered, likely going to preorder as I like where this is going.

Keep up the good work guys, can we also get some more screenies of how on ice in game looks?

I have over 300 years played on EHM over 3 GMs lol and still going strong.

I am extremely excited. Thanks for doing this. I am on a budget, but I will have money for the pre-order next week without a doubt because:

1. I am dying to play a proper hockey sim.
2. I am happy to put money in your hands ASAP so you can feel confident in the product.

Can't wait!

Well, I pride myself on the OOTP forums of asking questions no-one else has asked.

It sounds like they'll be releasing an updated feature list andor beta information this week, so we won't have to wait too long for more up-to-date news.
