total, pathetic noob questions
I can't believe it took me so long to find this game, but I love it.
I just have a couple of questions that I'm sure there are obvious answers to, just not obvious to me, and I've looked: 1. I started a tournament, a 16 fighter heavyweight, single elim with fighters from the 50s - 60s. I saved it after a couple of first round bouts, the save is called "test". Soooo, how do I re-load the save? Ridiculous I know but d**m if I can find the answer. 2. I finally got the fighter images to show up. But, and this is critically important, I also have a collection, downloaded from somewhere, of ringside girls that, although the images are in the right place, do not show up in the game. Nor do some of the judges, referees. Some do, but not all.......any idea what I'm doing wrong there? edit: I've also got these pretty cool images in folders called white white, white black and black black. They're cool ring pics. Can I incorporate those into the game and if so, how? If anybody could help an old retired gent it would be much appreciated. Thanks guys. Last edited by igor7111; 02-15-2013 at 09:55 AM. |

when you start the game, the long tab near the middle should say 'continue game test' if not, just below that you'll find a smaller tab that say load saved game...try that link to the .pdf manual http://ootpdevfiles.com/tb/TB2%20Manual.pdf |

See above. Unless you actually used the save game in the game menu, that does nothing. You have to save it when you exit.

LastName_FirstName As in: Grier_Pam In addition, you have to go to the Ring Card Girls group in the game and create a new ring card girl record for each image you have. So, your "Grier_Pam" picture will only show up if you have created a record with that name. "Old retired gent"? Well, congratulations. I'm close, but not quite there yet. God willing, I'll live long enough to retire.

Wow, thanks to all for your responses.
Ok, I'm able to load a saved game. Played through my heavyweight tourney (The Greatest won of course ). Most amazing wasJoe Louis' TKO of Marciano......in the second round (?) I get it with the pics. I'll see if I can make the appropriate changes. What's with the listing of managers and trainers. I'm using boxrec (fantastic source) to link managers and "cut men" with the fighters but I can link about 25% only. The rest are just not in the database. (It's amazing how many fighters Angelo Dundee managed, I had no idea). Does that update with the boxer's database as well? Finally, this game really takes me back. I actually remember watching the Emile Grifffith - Benny Paret fight on live tv when I was a kid with my dad. It's amazing how many of these guys from the 50s and 60 I've seen fight. Gonna do a Welterweight tourney next. So far I'm just letting the AI do the strategy. Maybe I'll try my hand at doing one fight myself and see how that works. Just glad I found this.......what a cool game!! And I've just scratched the surface. Any good mods I should know about? Old geezer |

While this part of the OOTP forums is not as active as we would like, there are very friendly people here. Eventually, any questions you have will get answered.

Cornermen Download I believe that all the links that you have made between trainers/cutmen and boxers will be overwritten, so would recommend back up prior to testing perhaps. |

"Sepia Warrior[/I] created a file of 420 cornermen."
Many thanks. I hadn't noticed that. |

Hi igor7111,
I used to try to match corner/cutmen with their fighters, as well. I did read that corner/cutmen dont make THAT much of a difference and didnt worry about it as much. For every universe I start, I copy Sepia Warrior's cornermen and refs onto the uni. I usually randomize them in my universe. When I used to attempt to match them, I would have a lot of fights where the same trainer trained both fighters. Check out the cornermen ratings in the game and get a feel for them, comparing between cornermen. You can then start creating them on your own, without needing to know much about the ratings because there are not a lot of variables for the cornermen. With Sepia Warrior's addition to what the game already contains, it offers a wide range of cornermen. If I notice a trainer or cutman missing, I will get a feel for the fighters he/she trains and create my own rating (which I am no expert at). Hope this helps. |
