Or you can go to un-block.us, change some DNS settings, and be able to watch your local team as well. That's my plan for this year as an easy, affordable means of circumventing cable.

Does that work when there are national blackouts on Saturday afternoons during the FOX game of the week?

The problem is really with haters. The reason Yankees get so much attention is not because there are a lot of Yankee fans nationally. The real cause is there are too many Yankee haters. Haters are no less eager to consume Yankees info than fans, because they want to find reasons to continue the hate. To have the media pay less attention to the Yankees, learn to not hate but be indifferent. Don't even care about how the media care about the Yankees, and the media will stop to care also.

Now the Red Sox, on the other hand, are a totally different story. |

People are people wherever they are, and that includes sports fans. Now, do knuckleheads get on various forms of social media to crow and rub it in, like the BoSox followers you find insufferable? Yes, of course. If there was an MLB team in American Samoa, SOME of their fans would do the same thing after winning the World Series.

I don't hate the Yankees. I love when they lose however.

I was sure that the underlined "love" in your post was a hyperlink to the wiki on the 2001 World Series, but you either:

But see, I grew up a lifelong Boston fan, and I am still a huge fan of both the Bruins and Patriots, but the entire Red Sox organization has become utterly detestable in recent years. The players act like entitled babies, the coaches can't agree on anything, the GM is just a puppet, and the upper management just carries along like everything's A-OK. They've celebrated a falsified sell-out streak, fired the only manager that's ever been able to do something with the club, fielded overpaid divas who care more about personal appearances than the team, and completely and utterly sold out to the fans who would go crazy over a piece of dirt with "Red Sox" stamped on it. I became disillusioned with that team early on (08 or so), and I have never been happier to have defected to the Rays, because it has been just so much fun to watch the organization crash and burn the way they have. If you have fans of two different teams sitting together, talking about hating the Yankees is easier than talking about the teams they like.

For example, even as a Patriots fan, I harbor no ill will towards Eli Manning or the New York Giants. They beat the Pats fair and square in both Super Bowls, and did it with dignity (for the most part). Nor do I harbor a grudge against Peyton Manning for winning so much and being Brady's rival. I might not like either Manning brother, but I don't HATE them. Whereas a team like the New York Jets, I can safely say I hate. I consider them a bunch of big-mouthed losers who don't know how to act on or off the football field. Please note that this is not mutually exclusive: Jets fans have every right to hate the Patriots right back. Ergo, I can't hate the Yankees for winning so much, or having an insane budget. I don't like the team, but they have done nothing, in my eyes, bad enough for me to truly hate them. |

I think most people hate sports teams the same way they hate movie villains. It's more of a fun thing than some real hatred.
