Angry Sudden Nasty Problem - Program Error!

After using Lahman's DB for nearly 50-60 hrs of importing teams into OOTP5, I've suddenly been getting an error in the middle of importing players. The error has the tendency of corrupting my players file too. Good thing I have a backup. I've tried everything to get around this including:

1) Reinstalling Lahman's DB and making sure its not in the OOTP directory;

2) installing the new 5.11 patch;

3) deleting many un-needed players from the FA pool;

4) creating a new division;

5) creating an entirely new league and then importing all my teams and players from my backup file;

6) Defragging my hard drive;

Initially this problem arose a couple days ago and my most recent backup file was several days old which meant I've had to backtrack at a great expense of time. The original file must have been corrupted because it would not add any more players.

However, when I restored from my back-up it allowed me to pickup and continue forward from where I left off a few days ago.
I re-input dozens and dozens of players over again unitl I reached the same point in work where the original problem arose. And, it occurred again!

Have I reached some kind of a limit as to the number of players or index numbers for files? If so, is there any way to continue?
Is there a way to re-index the players file because, after all, I deleted hundreds, if not thousands, of players.

I'm really frustrated now as I'm 90% completed with my project but until its 100% done I won't be able to rest.

Please help me find a solution.

Thanks

Did you follow the basic guidelines here for adding teams, etc?

Re: Reply to your post

Steve, I'm familiar with importing teams and players and dumping them into the FA pool and deleting the ones I don't want.

I've been doing this for days. Did you read the description of the error msg I'm getting? Is it of any help or clarification?

Is there a solution?

Steve - Question

Steve, do you think it would do any good where I to reinstall the entire OOTP5 program?

And, if so, would I first install Ver 5.0 and then the 5.10 patch followed by the 5.11 or could I just do 5.0 and the 5.11 patch?

Would this complicate anything or might it help?

Let me know.

By the way if what are p####.html files? (p10405.html for example) - it looks like I have nearly 13,000 or more of them.

Thanks

It might help, just install it in a different directory than it is now. You would only need the most recent patch.

The files you mentioned are the "html player pages".
