Who would be interested in a super league??

This is for all you guys who love baseball, love ootp, and dream of being a real life general manager. I have done many leagues before, mostly with mogul, but they all sort of fizzle out because of a bad commish or bad GMs or both.

I know there are easily 30 of you guys out there that would be extremely dedicated GMs.

My idea to make this different than any normal old league is for everyone to put a little money in the league. Maybe 5 bucks per season? That would take the kids out of it, or the guys who really don't care enough to make it a competitive league.

We would need a main commissioner, and 4-5 very dedicated administrators to make this all work.

Post in here if you are at all interested or if you have any suggestions to make it work. I think it would a hell of a league and would have a great community feel to it. Lemme know!

I can't do pay leagues, but there are probably a lot of people that can.

The only reason I suggested that is so all the GM's actually have some skin in the game so we don't just get a bunch of guys quitting. Free works for me too.

I just want to gauge the overall interest before we do anything, but I think it'd be a hell of a time if it works out.

I would be interested in a pay to play league - would ultimately depend on what the league settings are though.

Not saying you'll get more interest, but you should try posting this in the "Online Leagues" Forum.

Please take this as constructive feedback, that's what it's intended to be:

Your idea is nice but it has several problems to it. First and foremost, most online leagues don't get started by suggesting a bunch of people get together and then we'll figure out the details. There are a lot of online leagues already, so if you want to start a new one, get the league governance structure in place first. Get the website in place. Create a proposed league file and have it ready to go. If you want to give GM's the chance to impact rules, you can save as a template and then change it later. There are plenty of people willing to join a league that's just starting up, but not so many people that will trust a vague, unformulated plan.

Second, the only thing you've suggested would be super about your league is a $5 charge to get in and "take the kids out". I'm not so sure $5 is steep enough to keep less serious GM's out. If you want a pay league, maybe you should flesh that idea out a bit more. Is the money used for anything more than just website maintenance? Will winners be award cash at season's end? If so, what's the payout structure look like? Perhaps if you raise the entry fee, you can provide a large enough payout pool that will intrigue more people. If you do, does your league require any special roster rules to make the league interesting to losing GM's over a longer time period? Sometimes it takes several seasons to build a winner in baseball. That's why rotisserie leagues typically only let you keep a few players from one season to the next.

Lastly, the online league forum is really where this type of post belongs. That's where people looking to join a league should be heading.

Personally, I have no interest in a pay league and one league is enough for me, but good luck with your league. Hopefully you can get a group together that will allow you to create what you're looking for.
