Well let's face it everything dies evetually and nothing lasts forever. I don't know how old Marcus is or how much longer he's going to be interested in doing this. You get TIRED of the same old things too. I just hope he makes it to the GRAPHICS part before he tires of it.

Some of the greatest baseball sims we ever played are gone into darkness and unless you can get an old Win98 setup you're not going to be able to play a lot of them like Front Page Sports Baseball 98. It's weird that the Front Page Sports Football game still works but the Baseball game crashes out after one game. I'd personally play that if I could get it to work in my Vista 64 machine or even my Win7 Professional.

Look, the decision has been made. Those of us who hate the idea will just have to deal with it. But, if and when everything suddenly goes south, remember why.

According to OOTP itself, OOTP MLB play (modern and historical) outnumbers OOTP fictional play three to one.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.

Absolutely true. You and I are headed there ourselves, as is OOTP. It just makes sense to try to delay all of these transitions for as long as possible.

I love that people are discrediting the recent poll because previous polls may have shown some different results.

They forget that there are only 4,196 active members of these forums and that the total unit sales for OOTP is more than double that figure. So if people want to challenge the validity of a poll, they'd better start looking at the validity of the previous ones, because none of these polls are a comprehensive approach to market research.

More importantly, the objection seems to suggest that poll results are not valid or actionable if they conflict with preceding results. Wow, if that was how companies made decisions on product development, they'd be out of business in a hurry.

Guess what? Customers can change their minds over time, and if you ignore the changing dynamics of your target market, then you're not a competent business owner. No matter what your previous polling, focus groups, or survey research has indicated, the current feedback from your customers rules the day. Ignore it at your own peril. So that's why there are professional researchers who know how to design statistically valid studies that use these methods, validate the findings, and help drive important strategic decisions.

As I've mentioned, I'm not discussing graphics any further except to encourage everyone to exchange suggestions and comments on how to implement them, even if they're among those who've objected to their addition to OOTP. But, whatever the topic may be, I always find it fascinating to watch some of these poorly reasoned arguments unfold.

That's really funny, my former boss used to call me Moriarity, both for the negative waves and for the planning.

I'm getting the vibe that The Wolf really isn't a 'hope and change' sort of a guy.

You may be kidding, but I'd wager that there is an OOTP player or two who'd actually like that.

No. It was invalid from the beginning because the decision had already been made and announced. There was never a chance that it would yield any results but what it did. See Bandwagon Effect.

Then why, except to start a fight, did you post that inflammatory post?

Potential death. Maybe this horse, unlike all others, will learn how to sing.

No, I'm a realist. Everyone and everything dies. My best friend died horribly three months ago. My older brother died horribly before that. Life ends, and so do game franchises. I just hate to see it happen.

Well, I hope that this phase passes because as I predict, there are probably going to be at least two more versions until some major graphics update. No need getting in a tizz about it now.

Not all of them.. Madden has been around for over 20 years, and shows no sign of dying whatsoever. I consider OOTP the 'Madden' of baseball sims myself.

Don't forget how terribly football manager has done since implementing graphics.

Yeah, same here. Excellent management game, but no matter how hard I try to force myself I just don't care about soccer.

Association football - soccer - is a great game. Like baseball, you just have to learn and appreciate its subtleties and intricacies. I've been happily playing it for years and will probably be playing it in senior leagues one day.

Madden was never a baseball sim nor a text sim.
