Looks like fictional mode is a no go.

According to the Facebook page. Oh well, I'm sure it wil be implemented for version 2!

Franchise Hockey Manager We won't have full fictional play like OOTP does, at least not in version 1.

Franchise Hockey Manager Right now, we're not planning a fictional mode, but fictional players will be possible. Thanks.

Based on the screenshot of the league options page, that is enough for me in the first version to get a "fictional" league that I want.

I am assuming that whoever is controlling the FB page is meaning that there will not be a "Wizard" like OOTP has... however, there has been plenty of confirmation that you will be able to edit teams and league setups. This means you can get what you want with a little bit of work.

Definitely, there will be tons customization/editing options. Just sounds like there won't be a full on fictional mode like in OOTP.

I'm curious what exactly this means. It will be possible to edit existing leagues, no doubts on that. I think there surely will be a way to create new teams, add them to existing league and generate fictional players for the team.

So the lack of fictional mode means that we won't be able to create new leagues? I'd be totally happy if I could create new league as a copy of an existing one or with randomed/default settings and edit those settings (I don't need any wizard).

Anyway, there will be plenty of leagues (it has been stated that over 100) so it'll be no problem to "sacrifice" one of them for the sake of a new fictional league.

wish the loyal forum members got some news here.

this is honestly incredibly disappointing. how much different is fictional mode from the customizability of normal mode? i'd really want to make a fictional world with only 5 or 6 total leagues... the leagues themselves i understand i can just edit other existing leagues pretty fully, it's the excess players in the database i wish i'd avoid.

whatever each person's reason, seems like a definite majority of the supporters were in favor of a fictional mode.

i'm sure it'll still be great and we'll enjoy, but this is kind of a surprising bummer. with the creativity and wide range of ways people want to enjoy the game it seemed like it'd be in for sure!

I think it means you're going to have to take an existing league and then edit all its details, i.e. name, location, member clubs, rules, etc. Hopefully that editing process be as easy as possible to do, which would take some of the sting out of not having an OOTP-style league creation wizard for generating wholly fictional leagues.

To be honest, I'd wait until you hear details from Sebastian or Malte on this front (and on all other aspects of the game). I think this has been expressed by others before, but I don't attach much value to whoever runs those Twitter and Facebook feeds. All of the important announcements about the game have been posted on these forums (albeit I think the feature list was posted on Twitter slightly earlier than here - but nonetheless it was posted here on the forums).

He's been posting a very generic "more announcements will be coming soon" ever since the previous feature list was released.

He posted in the middle of last month that the game would be released in January. But surely by that time they would have had a very good idea of whether it would be released in the following month... Seems to me his information was based on a very out of date post by Sebastian.

What I'm trying to say is, let's wait to see what Sebastian and Malte have to say before jumping to conclusions. I have no interest in a fictional mode, but I'd hate to see people get upset by a post that is semi-official at best...

No fictional mode at all would be a big dissapointment for me.
I really hope that Sebastian would make another statement soon. It's been a long time (his last post was two weeks ago...) and people are starting to get worried and start jumping to conclusions.

Which is unnecessarily. It has been stated multiple times that the more time Sebastian spends on the forums the less time he spends by coding. I'm starving for information and the game itself as well but we have to be patient. I'm sure we will be rewarded for that patience.

Poor Sebastian... he now has to suffer through all the pain that I have endured the past 14 years. *lol*

Seriously though, spending time on forums always takes time away from development, so don't worry and just wait for official announcements.

If the game is fully editable, you can turn any league you like into a fictional league. My plan is too move the KHL to North America and call it KHL NA. Players will be another story. Maybe a mixture of real and fictional players.

I also have plans for 3 other fictional leagues. These will be taken from the other available leagues. This,of couse,is based on not having fictional leagues.

I've thought about the fact we shouldn't put much stock into the Facebook page. But I thought maybe there was a possibility the PR guy who runs the page could get the info straight from Sebastian.

The question is, does customization of existing leagues, assuming you can edit the league structure, in effect equal fictional leagues? If the dev team think so then we wont ever get something like OOTP.

My other worry is that by not including fictional leagues in the OOTP sense from day one it will be harder, from a programming point of view, to add them later.

The features are suppose too be announced for OOTP14 tomorrow. Whats the hang up with FHM? Shouldn't they know all of the features by now?

I'd be happy with ver 1 if we could have a "real life" setup with an easy way to populate with fictional players. Looking forward to more information about the game.

Thats the reason I never announced a specific release date. The FB/Twitter account is managed by Brad, so his informations are not wrong but sometimes it is just not possible to sync every info. So this place, with posts from me, is the best place for infos.

We will make an announcement about FHM soon (actually, a few more). We changed our plans a bit (one of the reasons is in fact the fictional part of the game) but ...

1. The game is heavily under development.

2. Everyone will have a change to play the game rather sooner then later.

3. Even if features are not as deep as in OOTP version 13 we always make sure to make them possible in future versions/updates. One example is Fictional Play: the initial release version will not have a fully featured "New Fictional Game Wizard" like OOTP but it will not be a problem to add one later (and with our new timeline for the game you don't even have to wait for vversion 2 ). Another example are international tournaments, even if not in the initial release version they are already designed and just need to be added.

To answer the question on Fictional Leagues in FHM (initially and in the future): the game is prepared to make them as detailed as we and the community want them, we have no restrictions in the code, everything that is possible in OOTP is and will some day be possible in FHM.

Best news...I just hope "sooner" is measured in days/weeks and not months...
