Online Leagues
Has anyone given this much thought yet?, or is it still too early?. Anyone making preparations now for when the game is released?. Who will be starting their own online league?.
I'm excited and can't wait to join one, who's with me! |

I have never played any online league but maybe I will try some with FHM. I am not very much familiar with how they work though.

We over www.NBHL.info have a league going into season 2021 in EHM 05 and have been actively discussing many options available but keep your eyes open for a league to form from this core.
We are very much hoping that because the game will be import/export that there is no maximum number of GMs that can play in which case we have been floating the idea of sort of a MMO of FHM of sorts. Where there are different levels that you can play in if you want to be NHL, KHL or CHL the game will hopefully support that. There are a few ideas floating around, but there will be a league created from this group it may just be a classic league of 30 NHL GM's. We'll have to wait and see what kind of online features the game supports. I wouldn't be surprised to see EHMtheblueline also launch a league of their own much like the DMNHL which is an established EHM league. It is my understanding that the game will run a basic online support where the league file is exported online after the commissioner advances. Once they export the league you download the file and log in to your team with your password and make any adjustments (trades, line changes, scouting, free agent offers) and then you import the file back to the Commish. Ideally this can all be done from in game without having to actually going to the site. It would be very easy to do just have the option to load game from URL. Enter the URL that the game is uploaded to and then you have the ability to download and upload the game all from within the GUI itself. EHM Online works a little differently and in the future I am hoping to see FHM move towards this route. EHM Online has a dedicated server in which the commish or host have the game up and signed in 24/7. All other GMs are "on vacation" or set to away until they sign into the server via IP and which case they take control of their team. There are some added benefits to this version such as live sims and on the fly changes, but has limitations like max GMs due to server stability (EHM 05 - 30 and EHM 07 - 15) I was ecstatic to hear there would be a form of online support in FHM 1.0 and it will definitely boost the sales a bit, my biggest question is how will the leagues transfer from one version to another cause nobody wants to waste a year if the league won't transfer to version 2 in a year or so. Is there a special reason to use EHM 2005 instead of 2007?

Yeah EHM 07 only supports 15 GMs and the AI isn't strong enough to let AI control other 15

I think single player is better for me as well. But I am kind of curious at the same time. As I said - I will maybe try it with FHM if I find an opportunity.

I definately enjoy the single player experience, but I find it too easy most of the time.
When playing in an online league, with proper participation, it could be a hell of an experience. If you get the right GMs, it could also be very difficult to establish a solid team. |

I personally find the pace to slow, its taken much longer than it would take myself to make it this far. 2020 season and the league started early 2010, but as mentioned to each their own.
What I will say about online is that if you consider yourself good at a game you are cheating yourself by not going online, with no AI it really does up the challenge level. |

I ran a baseball league for quite a while and it was so much fun. Unfortunately, real life got in the way and I had to close the doors on the league. I had some great owners, some really active guys that made the league a lot of fun but the main drawback was the fact that when you have 30 people, most of them were inactive and that is what kills leagues.
If you have ever played in a fantasy based league before for football, baseball hockey or whatever, the interaction you have with human owners is 100x better than that of AI. It's harder, and a lot more rewarding to know that you beat someone else instead of just bettering the programming. |

I would be very interested...I hope somebody or group pull something together...Playing against 29 other breathers would be great...even better would be having tiers where after each season, the top/bottom went up/down to the next level...
But first, the game... |

I will defitanely be joining an online league. I am in a couple in OOTP and they are a lot of fun. Espicially when you have good people in them. I cant wait for this game to come out.

I always wanted to play Football Manager online but couldn't because it needed me to play at exactly the same time as everybody else. Being able to log on at any time to post lines etc. is way better so I would definitely want to try FHM online.

I'll definitely be running an online league - planning (if it's possible) to start in the early 90's and use real draft classes (but not a 'historical league') until we reach the future.
