Really? Dickie Noles was once traded for a player to be named later ... who turned out to be Dickie Noles. This was in real life, not OOTP.

Trades involving the same player returning to a previous team, sometimes within a short span of time, have happened quite a number of times across all professional sports. So this is realistic and not laughable.

The White Sox traded Gio Gonzalez to the Phillies as the PTBNL in Aaron Rowand for Jim Thome. Ultimately, that worked out pretty well, especially considering...

Almost exactly a year later, the Sox got him back (along with Gavin Floyd) in exchange for Freddy Garcia. The Sox won that trade pretty darn handily.

A little over a year later, they traded him to Oakland as part of the deal that brought Nick Swisher to Chicago. That one...well...2 out of 3 ain't bad.

How about the catcher that the Red Sox traded and then 1/2 a year later brought him back because he was the only one that seemed to be able to catch Tim Wakefield's knuckleball?

I did pretty much the same thing in my game, I traded away Drew Pomeranz (as a throw in to a multi-player deal), and then fast forward a year when some other pitching prospects of mine didn't pan out, I traded for him and got him back.

I do like the change that they made in the game at some point --that if you release a player and then try and re-sign him later, he says that 'we are too far apart in negotiations'.. which is the nice way of saying "Go to H***"

I did that MYSELF once, in a shorter span of time. Traded for Jhonny Peralta before the season started, then traded him back to the Indians at the trading deadline.

I unloaded an overpriced JJ Hardy on the Yankees halfway through a lost year, only for that offseason the Yankees making multiple different offers to me always asking for at least one of my top prospects. I said no every time but they kept on asking.

Offered Felix Hernandez (it's just 2013 so he's still a stud & is on his real life contract, 2 yrs @ $20M per). Tried trading him to one of the few teams with a lot of budget room. Literally can't give him away. Out of curiousity, I even tried seeing exactly what I'd have to give a team to get rid of him. Offered the Yanks Felix, a 5th rounder & the rest of my cash ($3.5M) for just a 30th round draft pick & they still wouldn't take the deal

I could get Clayton Kershaw for a 1st round draft pick and a scrub minor leaguer. I'd jump all over that - *if* I could afford his contract
