Free Agent Signing Problem

In my fictional league I signed up a free agent for a 3 year total contract worth $10,206,000. He signed it Jan. 2012. Now when I go to the Salary Obligations screen it shows a 2012 salary of $4,500,000. He is also a free agent after 2012. On the Contract & Status portion of his profile I see the following:

Contract Type: Major League Contract
Expires after 2011
Signed prior to 2011
Total Guaranteed Value When Signed $4,500,000
Total Years When Signed 1 year
Remaining Salaries 2011 $4,500,000

I'm stumped, because on the History Portion of his profile, it does indeed show that he indeed signed a 3 year contract totalling $10,260,000.

What gives??
