Bad Decisions Deck

In the "Free Agency Strategy" thread here I wrote this:

What I wanted to crowd source from you guys is 52 bad ideas. Go!

Note: I'm also open to suggestions on what would make this idea better.

♠K --- Sign best free agent starting pitcher (determined by wins)
♠Q --- Sign best free agent starting pitcher (determined by strike outs)
♠J --- Sign best free agent position player (determined by homeruns)
♠T --- Sign best free agent position player (determined by batting average)
♠9 --- Sign best free agent position player (determined by stolen bases)
♠8 --- Sign best free agent position player (determined by $$$ seeking)
♠7 --- Sign best free agent position player (determined by home runs)
♠6 --- Sign no free agents
♠5 --- Sign at least 5 minor league free agents
♠4 --- Sign any free agent to a 5+ year contract with a no trade clause
♠3
♠2 --- Wild Card (Player's choice: No card for the season or draw two cards for the season)

♥ Theme = Trading/Resigning players
♥A --- Trade your most expensive player
♥K --- Trade your 3 best prospects for a player that fills an official "weakness" at the ML level
♥Q --- Trade for #1 overall pick with players from your active roster to division rival (Alt rule for No Draft Pick Trading games: Trade for #1 prospect from rival)
♥J --- Resign a player for for 10 years (or as many as possible)
♥T --- Let all players who's contracts expire this year leave for free agency
♥9 --- Decline arbitration for all eligible players this year

If so...

Diamonds--Dumping Salary? Financial tightening? Cutting scouts/managers/etc.

Trade for best sp/position player in league no matter cost. Ideally the one that performed best against your team. ( as a steinbrenner esque owner demand) If not possible to track that. determined by wins/hr

Head Scout gets into argument with Owner. Fists fly. Scout is fired. Replaced with intern to prove a point. Sign the youngest available scout to maximum term (5 years?) at asking price with a no-termination clause.

You're not hogging! Offer as many suggestions as you want. Question about this one though: Is there a way to enforce this other than commissioner?

I DO really love the modifier of prospects though (highest in top 100, lowest in top 100, etc).

No. You would have to go into commssioner mode and force retire. then exit commssioner mode.

You need to have shuffle rules too. Such as:

Shuffle deck.

Cut deck in half, in thirds...whatever.

How many burn cards? 3? 6? 7?

5 burn cards. What if the burn cards make a hand? A pair, two of a kind,...flush...boat...etc. Could the burn cards be intensifiers?

2 Hearts: Avoid Arbitration. Sign all desired Arbitration Eligible players to extensions prior to the Arbitration date or allow them to become Free Agents.

3 Hearts: Offer arbitration to all players eligible.

Q heats. Trade for #1 overall pick with players from your active roster to division rival. Ask other team who would make this deal happen. If none then add your best player then ask again. Repeat until deal is made. Always pick best player as rated by stars when the AI gives you a list. i.e. give AI benefit of doubt. They get best player in the list.

A- Construct starting line-ups based on the best fielder for the AI generated primary position at each position. Have bench coach or manager fill in depth chart. Roll a 6 sided die. Use this line-up construction for the month of April, May, June, July, August, or September, based on the die roll. DH is chosen from remaining players.

K- Construct starting line-up vs LHP and RHP, respectively, based solely on player with highest contact rating vs LHP and RHP from each AI designated primary position for one month (same as above).

Q- Construct starting line-up vs LHP and RHP, respectively, based solely on player with highest power rating vs LHP and RHP from each AI designated primary position for one month (same as above).
