Player lost his rating at 2nd base
So I have a player, John S Farrel, who had a rating of ~60 one season. The next season, he no longer was rated at 2nd base at all.
Why would a player suddenly forget how to play a position the next season? He didn't just lose a few points off the rating, the rating is completely gone as if he never played there before. Checked the editor for this player, and it shows his experience at 2nd base as 200 which translates to --? Last edited by maxkeitt; 12-10-2012 at 07:44 PM. |

I take it you are doing a historical replay since there was a John S. Farrel who played for the Cardinals in the early 1900s. If so, how many years into the replay are you? Because he only played five seasons in real life, and if you didn't check "Retire players according to history" when you started that league, it's possible that could be the reason. Maybe there's a slight glitch where the AI knows he only played for five seasons but doesn't know where to rate him for his sixth? I would just go into Commissioner Mode and edit the player to have a 2B rating again. You'll have to check his Infield Range, Error, and Arm ratings to get them high enough to give him a rating at 2B. Also, make sure you change his position back to 2B before you do that.

I have had this happen. This is how I understand what happened: Players have physical defensive attributes that get adjusted. Each position has 'minimums' to qualify at a position.
Basically the player (Josh Satin - modern league) lost a step and can longer keep up at that position. In my case, the player suddently was listed at 1B and 3B when he had been 2B and 3B. I also picked up a player ('77 Alan Bannister) off waivers he was listed as a SS with no SS rating. He had lost his ability to play SS, which is why the other team waived him. |

Go to league functions and do a re-scout. I've seen it happen where a player shows up as having no rating on defense, but it's the result of some sort of bug. He is actually rated and will play accordingly, but it's not showing up in his profile or other displays.
