hey sebastian

thanks for dropping by and posting a short update, i think most of your followers like me, were happy to get the news on where things are at with the game

i likely would now say the same as some others on here. don't worry too much about us, keep to the codiing and testing you have to do
maybe once a week a short post of update where things are at is about all we would need at this point

cheers

That's pretty cool.

It seems Sebastian already answered that question:

It sounds like the arena entry is for each individual game in the schedule, so you can have clubs play their 'home' games in another arena if one wishes.

That's a really nice thing, and it's something I wish OOTP would add to its schedule files.

Thats right: normally, it is just the home-teams arena but you can hand-edit any arena you want (e.g. Winter Classic or NHL games in Europe).

I presume there's a way to create arenas if they aren't already in the game (or if their league isn't playable)?

If you move an NHL player who debuted during the 1967-68 season and you import him to the 1965-66 season, will he show up in duplicate when the 1967-68 season arrives?

They don't in OOTP, so you'd think not.

Will be in the game short tournaments? (aka Ice Hockey World Championships or Olympic Hockey)

Unless it was corrected in later versions, OOTP11 doesn't automatically delete duplicate players. Before every season , I go thru the players listed and have to delete 60-70 players. Its not a big problem because I usually catch it before the regular season but a few duplicates still show up later on in the season.

Will the schedule allow interleague games between two different leagues? Playoffs between two or more seperate leagues?

Approx. how many teams can a league handle with no problems?

IIRC It was fixed in OOTP13 because of the Random Debut database.

That's a good question. OOTP allows 50 divisions of 50 teams, although I'm not sure how well that works...

The actual limits are 8 conferences per league, 4 divisions per conference and 20 teams per division. That's an area were changes are possible at a later time.

are league awards customizable? And can you create awards for conference mvps along with League MVP, Top Goalie etc etc.

That's the biggest thing that jumps out in lacking for ootp. It still shocks me how they haven't spent time improving that section.

Another schedule question. Will there be odd numbered team schedules besides the NHLs odd numbered leagues? I know that the NHL for years had an odd amount after Cleveland Barons merged then the 4 WHA teams were added.

Odd-numbered leagues is actually fairly common in hockey. There are plenty of off days in a hockey schedule which makes it easy to handle an odd number of teams.

Heck the NHL had 21 teams between the 1979-80 and the 1990-91 seasons.

Plus the AHL, IHL, OHL, WHL, have all had an odd number of teams in various seasons. Indeed, I wouldn't be surprised if most hockey leagues have had at least a few seasons where they had an odd number of clubs.

Will scheduling alot of neutral site games(which I plan too do) take away a team's home ice advantage(unless you consider the Flyers playing a home game at MSG an advantage)?

I used to love the NBA doubleheaders that were mostly scheduled back in the mid to late 1960s . Seen acouple of them at Cobo Arena Detroit. The expansion Phoenix Suns received an standing ovation by Piston fans for going on a 10-0 run on the Baltimore Bullets.

Its too bad the NHL never did that but they never had the attendance problems the NBA had back in the 1960s.
