Home Run Derby & Futures Game

It would be cool to be able to have a home run derby run before the ASG, and to have a Futures game featuring the best prospects from the league's minors.

How about All-Star balloting with actual vote counts as well? And articles every week or so leading up to the All-Star gaming announcing whose in the lead for each position and the next one or two people after them with vote counts so you can see how far away they are.

Balloting

OK....my wish list ASG Ballot entry:

Have starters determined by fan vote. Let it be a function of stats (traditional stats taking precedence over Sabermetric stats...it is my guess that Sabermetrics beyond OPS is still a niche hard core fan market segment, though certainly becoming more main stream each year), popularity, and home attendance.

The Extremely popular national player will pull votes from other markets, especially if he is having a good year. The home town player who is extremely popular in his home town will pull those votes, and of course, the more ballots you hand out at the park, the more votes come from that market. And let injured popular players get voted in and allow the manager to name the replacement, even if they haven't been in a single game....just like in real life.

Also, make sure each team has a player named to the ASG.

ADD: Also, have a tendency for the ASG managers to either favor traditional or Sabermetric metrics when determining who they want to fill out their line-up. Also have their biases for Offense/defense, speed/power affect these selections, also (with an option to enable or disable these manager biases for those who find this idea to be completely stupid...more options, mo better!).
