What is your high number of teams in a world?

What is the most amount of teams anyone has ever had in their world without the game crashing? Does the crashing have more to do with the computer your using or the game itself?

Better to start small then expand over time. I started large and had nothing but problems.

I have a world running that is an association of four leagues, and every major league team has four levels of minor league teams. Total team count = 304 teams!

Current universe, 4 leagues, 30 ML teams each, full minor levels, plus high school and college feeders. 840 teams. Seems to be going okay so far.

One time I had one million teams in my universe. Boy, did that take a long time set-up. And finding all those logos was a monster effort. I personally had no problems until about 750,000 teams. Then my turns started to take upwards of 15 seconds per game day. That was more than I could bear so I have since contracted approxamately 250,000 teams.

Hope this helps.

Current League: 72 ML teams (4 different leagues) 144 minor league teams.
When I get farther on I will have over 500 total teams.

I have a league of 56 ML teams, each with 3 minor league affiliates, plus 144 college and 72 high school feeder leagues. That is a total of 440 teams in my universe.

This league is probably the biggest I'd want to create. Right now it operates just at the point which is tolerable for me. A little bit sluggish at times, but not slow enough to deter me from playing.

I have a fairly powerful computer. I would not recommend a universe this size for slower computers.

I simulated 30 years of history before I took over as manager. I let the game run over night, backing up after it finished each morning. There were several crashes running over night. But I'm not really sure I'd blame the game for that. There were anti-virus scans and what not running overnight also. If it crashed and I lost a year, I would just revert to the backup and keep plugging along.

Standard MLB setup with 152 college teams and 150 HS teams. Equaling... about 512 teams. Runs fairly well.

It gets easier after June because then the feeder league teams stop running. I don't do a lot of fictional leagues but my biggest one had about 500 teams in it. As jmknpk2 said, don't use a big world on a slow computer. my computer has 8 GB RAM and is pretty powerful.

Honorable Pawn. That is a huge number. If you don't mind me asking what kind of computer are you using to run the game? It has to be pretty powerful. Thanks

Yep.

I simply replaced the pixilating sub-neuron outfitters with continuous deframenting quad core initializers. It's a quick fix but you have to remember to replace the artificial intelligence cortex synthesizers with Microsoft.

The only other thing that I do is to keep a minaturized air coolant system blowing on the motherboard at all times so it doesn't short circuit.

But doesn't that lead to complexities in conveying statements of jest?

Hey Guys,

Very interesting thread. I have some advice. With having universes of the sizes mentioned here the more we (in Tech Support) recommend that you back up your game. Please don't just rely on the auto-save feature as that too can fail to save your game in the event your league files somehow become corrupt and unrepairable. Using the auto-save feature is fine but it's recommended that you also use an alternate back up source. A few good places to back up your game to would be:
  1. A flash drive
  2. An external hard drive
  3. In the Cloud (i.e. MediaFire, 4shared, Dropbox, Carbonite)
To avoid a potential catastrophe with universes of the sizes mentioned here we recommend that you not forget to back up your game very often (perhaps every month or so?)

Cheers,
OOTP Tech Support Team
