Patch me in, please!

I'm going to be spending a week in the Mayo Clinic and I want to take my fictional league with me. Right now it's loaded into my home PC. Can I transfer it to a laptop? If so, could someone walk me through the process? Will it be a licensing issue, or does my own personal use (regardless of how many computers it's on) fall within licensing parameters?

Regarding the transfer and loading onto a laptop: please speak to me as you would a child. I am NOT computer savvy...as such, I'll need to have the transfer of my league (if it's possible) explained to me patiently. Thanks!

I believe you're allowed to license 2 copies so installing it on your laptop should be okay.

If you have a flashdrive plug it into a USB port on your PC and copy your saved game files to it. Install OOTP on your laptop. Make a folder on your laptop in your OOTP saved games folder. Unplug the flashdrive, place it in your laptop, and copy the files into that folder.

Hope that helps

You have 2 licenses, so you can only install the game on 2 separate computers.
If you've already have the game on 2 separate computers, then you need to unlicense 1 of them first.
You unlicense the game by starting it and choose "Preferences" the click the License tab and select Release/un-license the game.
Now you can just install the game on your laptop. If you don't have the game file, you can redownload it with your laptop.
Then you'll need to copy/transfer your saved game over to the laptop.
If you have any logos, ballpark pics, uniform or any other images you want, you might want to copy those over as well.
You should be all set now..
Any problem with licensing, send a PM to Andreas or Bowtie, as that's the quickest way to get it resolved..You'll need your serial and order/purchase info for this.
Any questions please ask.
Take care and best of luck
Rod

You can install the game on as many computers as you like. You can only have it licensed on any 2 at one time.

Simple process really:

1. Install OOTP on your laptop.

2. Copy your "lg" folder to a flash drive and place it in your saved games directory on your laptop, same folder as it's in on your desktop. That's it, no need to create a new folders or anything else.

3. Start OOTP on your laptop, load your league and play to your hearts content.

4. Not sure exactly why you have to spend time in the Mayo clinic, but hopefully all goes well for you.

Cheers

Thanks for the help guys! To answer the question: I'll be at the Mayo for heart surgery (oblation, actually)...mostly fiber optics...very little cutting.

As for transfering my game: my computer doesn't have a USB/flash drive port on the front (hell, I just learned what a "flash drive" is a few months ago! lol). The OC is about 5 years old. Could there be one on the back?

Yes, back, side... even a five year old pc should have one.

Take care...

If there's no USB port then zip the .lg folder to a .zip file, burn the .zip file onto a CD/DVD, and then extract the zip file onto your laptop in the Saved Games directory. (Doing a straight copy via CD/DVD flags all the files as read/only, which is bad.)

Good luck and get well soon.

Back or one of the sides will have one.

You don't need a kid. My greatuncle is 90 and he can do all of this.

1. Archive the .lg folder using Winzip, 7Zip, etc. to a .zip file. You can get 7Zip free at Download

2. Burn the .zip file to a CD/DVD. You can download a free burner program here - DeepBurner - Powerful CD and DVD Burning Package

3. Physically move the CD/DVD to the laptop. Use an installation there of the same program you used to zip the folder to unzip it to your OOTP Save Game directory.

A caveman could do it!

Best of luck with your procedure! I sincerely hope you are much better afterwards and that you get your OOTP working on your Laptop.
