Revolving DH

Is it possible to utilize the Designated Hitter slot as a revolving door to rest position players while keeping their potent bat in the line-up allowing more at bats?

Essentially I want to use the opportunity to not have an everyday designated hitter clogging the roster and instead look to lengthen the bench with part-time players that can play several positions. With a deeper bench I hope to pick and choose who is the designated hitter each night and rotate players in and out over the course of the week.

Can this be done in an online league that sims 6-10 games at a time? Do I have to use the 7-day line-up to accomplish this? Will it work in resting players? Does it seem worth the effort?

You could do this with three players on the depth chart.

I don't think that will work if they're already starters at another position.

You would have to sub for them at their position in the depth chart on the same schedule as the DH Rotation. In theory it should work. In practice using the depth chart this way cedes control to the AI and one has no guarantee that the batting order/lineup will be what was intended.

The 7-day is the best way to accomplish this, the AI would get pretty screwy trying to handle it.
