Recovery from monster ratings faall?

Amigos, have you ever had a player suffer a monster drop in ratings and then significantly recover any?

The Phillies' 26-year-old Michael Schwimer started my season rated 48 overall with a 58 potential. By the end of the season his ratings had declined to 23/23. His stuff/movement/control (and their potential) declined about 10%.

Now he wants a two year contract at $750,000 (I imagine the ask would be higher if his ratings had not fallen so much).

So, in your experience, what is the chance that he can (not necessarily will) rise significantly above those 23 ratings?

I've seen players recover from that, I've also seen players who continue to put out monster seasons even though their ratings are dropping like a rock. But that isn't the norm. Usually once they start going downhill, they're not long for this league.

Another extraordinary drop

Last season, 2015, a 30-year old Tim Lincecum pitched well (21-8, 2.78 ERA, 1.16 WHIP) and ended the season rated 72/72, about what he was for four years. By the start of spring, both of his ratings dropped into the 30s. By opening day, he was rated 21/21.

I am tempted to dump him and his fat salary into the minors, but I will see if he can recover in the majors. Short leash. Anyone here think that some time in the minors would be more likely to lift him out of darkness?

Somewhere here (sorry the thread is a bit long !!) I mentioned Trout going from a 70 player with potential of 79 or 80 suddenly sinking to a 60 players with no potential improvement .. then a late 50s player

Kept on going back and trading for him just in case this would be the year that he would improve and return back to the player he was when the game started or at the end of my first season but it never happened
