Playing a 1B with a 2 rating...

I am thinking about putting Adam Dunn at first, but he only has a 2 rating a 1B. How bad of an idea is this? Also, Catcher Jesus Montero has a 1 rating at catcher. Should you never use him as a catcher? And from experience, does how much does that rating usually increase for him as he gains experience?

Surprised Dunn is so low, he did decent at 1B this year. I have used players as low as 1 at 1B for spurts, they usually get an error maybe one every 30 chances. Range matters also. Dunn should gain experience but if it's the 2012 version of Dunn it will be slow and I doubt he will get above a 4. Age matters when accumulating experience. I have a 1 experience at C and I have used myself there in 30 games over 6 yrs I have thrown out a total of 3 batter, 3 for 19. I also have 7 errors. If his arm is decent he may be ok.

For a 1B, anything 2 or above is usually fine, the worst 1B won't usually cost you more than 10 runs. For catcher however, a 1 would be a disaster. I had to use Montero at catcher for about 50 or 60 games in 2013 I think, and he had a ZR around -10ish and threw out about 10-15% of runners.
