RLPA Reboot: Looking for several owners for transition to OOTP 13
Full League Name (Initials): RLPA Reboot
Main URL: www.rlpa.org Reports URL: BNN Home Page Boards URL: Replacement Level Players Association :: Index Commissioner(s) OOTP Forum Username(s): Anthony Giacalone (anthonygiacalone) or Mark Wiffen (wiffen) Email Address: giacalone.anthony@gmail.com OOTP Version: moving to 13 in June Game Needed: yes Players: historical # of Teams: 26 Export Deadlines Days And Times: MWF 5 pm ET League Time Per Sim: 10 days First Season: 1985 Latest Season: 1993 Special Rules & Settings: no personnel or scouting, soft cap of $80 million, bankruptcy rule, three-year extension max, no minor league extensions Currently Available Teams: Milwaukee Brewers, Chicago White Sox, Minnesota Twins, Oakland Athletics, California Angels, Montreal Expos, Philadelphia Phillies, Pittsburgh Pirates, San Francisco Giants. One of the OOTP community's longer running leagues, The RLPA, has a few openings in each of it's two leagues. RLPA is in it's 8th year simming after starting with a group of associates brought together at Baseball Think Factory. Our website and forum is located at www.rlpa.org RLPA Reboot, an historical league, was based on the model of our highly successful RLPA Classic league. The Reboot started with the 1985 season and contains 26 real-life teams. We do not use managers, personnel or scouting. We manually create each new draftee to make sure that the ratings are all realistic when each player enters the league. Additionally, each draft pool considers MLEs to make draftees as realistic as possible. We have not altered the game-generated personality or injury ratings. Also, the league will have the normal average rating of 100 for talent changes, which has introduced that great element of chance so that some great players have failed miserably while others have become stars. Our finances are not historically accurate. Our tradition (through 40 simmed years of RLPA) has been to have a soft-cap set at $80 million dollars and this will be what we use for the 1985 league also. All our markets are of equal size, so there is not an inherent advantage to being in New York as opposed to Cincinnati. You can take a look at our website at www.RLPA.org We think that you will really enjoy our community. Hope to hear from you or see you on the RLPA forums, Anthony Giacalone giacalone.anthony@gmail.com Commissioner, RLPA Reboot Commissioner, The Antiquity League |

Hi guys,
Just some clarification on what I said above. After having only a couple of openings over the last several seasons, RLPAReboot suddenly has several vacancies, due to our pending transition to OOTP 13. We are currently in conducting the June 1993 amateur draft and the season is expected to end during the first week of June 2005, at which point we will transition to OOTP 13. (We are old hands at these transitions, having upgraded several times beginning with OOTP 6.5). So, if you are looking for an American League team, you can choose from one AL East team (defending champions, Milwaukee) or several AL West teams, all of whom are playing right around .500 this season (California, Minnesota, Oakland and the Chicago White Sox). In the National League, you could take Pittsburgh (a playoff team last season and over .500 this ear) or one of two rebuilding teams (Montreal or Philadelphia). In the NL East, San Francisco, another .500 team is available. As you can see, the RLPA is a tremendous league with a rich history dating back to 2005. We still have nearly ten owners from our original complement, which we think is a testament to our league. We are looking for some great owners who wish to join our tradition and take it forward into OOTP 13. Please feel free to contact me at giacalone.anthony@gmail.com or via private message. I'm happy to answer any questions. - Anthony Giacalone Commissioner, RLPA Reboot Commissioner, Antiquity League |

The Pirates, Angels and Athletics have been scooped up.
But we still have the following teams available: Milwaukee, Minnesota, Chicago White Sox (just drafted Bartolo Colon), Montreal (just drafted Vlad Guerrero), Philadelphia, and San Francisco. |

But we still have the following teams available: Milwaukee, Minnesota and Philadelphia. If we fill at least two of those teams then Toronto will be available too since their current owner would then take an expansion team. |

We have gotten down to just the Phillies needing an owner. Their finances are fine after this year, although their farm system is weak.
Now that we are just about full, we expect to go ahead with expansion -- adding two teams. So, it looks like the Toronto Blue Jays are also now available, since our Toronto owner will be taking over and expansion team. |

We've got just three teams available.
1) Perennial winner Toronto, who just traded off some veterans and loaded up with a terrific stable of prospects. 2) Philadelphia, also a traditional winner, who is working on their own rebuilding phase 3) expansion Florida/Miami Marlins, who need to be guided from the opening days on. |

We were full but two of our owners had to bail for technical/time issues. So, the California Angels and the Philadelphia Phillies are both available. The Angels are in better shape both with the current club and with Alex Rodriguez in the pipeline. The Phillies are a bit of a mess but have some talent in the low minors and should have a good draft pick in June.

It's starting to look like a couple of our owners got bored in the last four weeks (as we transitioned from OOTP 12 to OOTP 13) and moved on to other things. So, we have four openings in a terrific league. And since we are just starting the 1993-1994 off-season, you'd be able to shape your team well for the upcoming year.
The teams are: California (83-79 in 1993) -- Solid offense based around Frank Thomas, Hal Morris and Ryan Klesko. Weak pitching staff. Farm system: #3 (including SS Alex Rodriguez, SP Mike Hampton, SP Kaz Ishii and SP Kelvim Escobar Minnesota (72-90 in 1993) -- Below average offense despite excellent platoon hitter Tommy Gregg and still contributing Kent Hrbek. Below average pitching staff but very good at the top of the rotation with Greg Maddux and Bret Saberhagen. Solid bullpen. Gets #9 pick in the 1994 draft. Farm system: #15 (including RF, Jermaine Dye, CF Preston Wilson, and SP John Thomson) Oakland (67-95 in 1993) -- Terrible offense, but help coming on quickly with Albert Belle and Manny Ramirez read to go. Pitching staff is solid and pretty young with Mike Mussina and Shane Reynolds heading the staff and two very solid relievers. Gets #8 pick in the 1994 draft. Farm system: #1 (including LF Mann Ramirez, CF Andruw Jones, SP Steve Trachsel, 3B Norihiro Nakamura and SP Tyler Green) Philadelphia (56-106 in 1993) -- Below average offense but some bright spots in John Olerud, John Vender Wal and Terry Steinbach. The pitching was terrible despite valiant efforts by journeymen Bob Sebra and Brian Dubois. Gets #4 pick in the 1994 draft. Farm system: #14 (including Ugueth Urbina, CF Gary Matthews Jr and CF Johnny Damon) Drop me a line at giacalone.anthony@gmail.com or go to rlpa.org and fill and fill out an application. Dang! Apparently we are having a little trouble with the application form on the website. So, if you are one of the owners that filled out an application this morning, can you please send a note to my email instead? It's giacalone.anthony@gmail.com or you can send me a private message on the OOTP forums.
Sorry and thanks. |

The league moved swimmingly through expansion and the 1994 season but we do have a few available teams as we get into the 1994-1995 off-season.
The teams are: Florida (65-97 in 1994) -- First year was the typical expansion year. They did sign all-world Barry Bonds to a long-term contract, but even with Bonds their offense was pathetic. The top of their rotation is a good bottom of a normal rotation but they need some top-end talent to suplement thekids like Cory Lidle and Lee Hancock. Farm system: #10 (including Dave Roberts, Javy Vazquez) Milwaukee (59 103 in 1994) -- A rebuilding team with a terrible offense and worse starting pitching, although their bullpen with Mark Davis, Dennis Cook, Joe Klink and Mitch Williams is good. They have a couple of trading chits (SP Scott Garrelts, Wild Thing Williams). They have some bit of young talent on the MLB roster (Jose Macias, Javy Lopez). Gets #1 pick in the 1995 draft. Terrible farm system. Minnesota (68-94 in 1994) -- Below average offense despite excellent platoon hitters in Tommy Gregg and Troy O'Leary and a still contributing Kent Hrbek. Below average pitching staff but very good at the top of the rotation with Greg Maddux and Bret Saberhagen. Solid bullpen. Gets #6 pick in the 1994 draft. Farm system: #26 (including RF, Jermaine Dye, 3B Russell Branyan, CF Preston Wilson, and SP John Thomson. If you are interested in any of these teams in a great league, drop me a line at giacalone.anthony@gmail.com or go to rlpa.org and fill and fill out an application. |
