Also for the photos, they could attach a photo of their head to a photo of their favourite hockey player, or the reverse.

We are thinking about pre-orders but no final decision is made. I'm not sure if it makes sense for a first version.

Thanks for the reply Sebastian! I wouldn't mind even if we had to come to the office and pick our copies up haha!

Well I like the name. Not as good as Dynasty but seeing as how that's already taken it'll work just fine

So once one of the members suggested that name first?

Dynasty Hockey Manager or Dynasty Manager: Hockey were my favorites. But the name is taken so no chance to use it. Same for World Hockey Manager, which was an early internal favorite. Another one was Behind the Bench but it would make more sense for a strict Coaching sim.

yeah, that's what i figured. In the end, the name tells people what the game is. And although it might not be as catchy as some might say they hoped for, i'm sure the actual game will take care of that part...and that's whats most important after all. FHM works just fine for me and its gotten me more excited!

Starting today I will post Development Diaries centering around different topics. The length will vary, sometimes just short burbs about stuff I work on, sometimes more in depth topics.

First topic is about historical play and is written from one of our researchers:

I don't know if I am allowed to post in the sticky, so I ask here:
When I read in the development diary that we could adjust scoring and penalty levels (which was something I wanted to read!), it crossed my mind that there were actually lots of rule changes over the years, even after the 1940s. Just some examples: 3rd man in, coincidental minors, instigator, trapezoid, checks to the head etc.
So how many of these rules can be altered within the game? For example, can we decide if we want to hand out automatic 10 game suspensions for a player (or the first player) to leave the bench to engage in a fight (if that stuff is even coded into the game...)? Can we decide if our league uses the trapezoid or not? Etc...

Interesting stuff, thanks.

Though I couldn't but help think that historical seasons need the historical schedules. Has that been considered? I'd also mention the playoff scheduling as well—it ought to reflect the practices of the time and not simply overlay the modern playoff scheduling principles over top.
