Question on player development

If I draft a guy who has a 2 star potential, can his potential change? I have scouting turned on as well as player personnel.

IOW, Can a player ever get better than his potential? Maybe my scout was wrong or maybe my personnel can develop him to be better than what the draft indicated?

Yes, it can change, and for a variety of reasons.

Here's a pitcher I signed to a minor league contract early last year and now he's in my major league starting rotation:

I have found quite a few gems later in the draft or buried in the free agent pool. Seldom do they become super stars...but they serve purposes as a last arm in the pen or as a utility player.
Actually, I had to include one as a throw in on a recent trade and I nearly walked away from the trade. Simply because he was my super utility guy that plays like 6 positions fairly well. Dude did everything but catch for me.
