Question Re: AI Demotions
Hi all -
I'm playing a straight MLB season and have my manager preferences set so the minor league managers handle Minor League Promotions / Demotions and Lineups. At the halfway point of the season, I've begun to get a message on the Manager Home Screen that says "Minor League Players who probably need to be demoted." So I go to whatever player is shown and demote them a level. Invariably, though, the next day that player is automatically promoted right back to whatever level they were the day before. It's fairly inconsistent - sometimes the demotion sticks, sometimes it doesn't. And I'm never given a list of players to be promoted, either. Anyone have any advice? It's incredibly frustrating. Thanks! JRWBC |

With your setup, the AI would probably promote anyone before you would get the message, but it does happen. What I think is happening is that the player in question and all comparable players at the level below would ALL be tabbed for demotion, it's just that the player in question is the best and the AI has to fill every level. So when you demote him, the AI is saying "But he's STILL the best option for the level above!"
But if you have ghost players enabled, then I don't know. |

Check your settings as manager. You may not be in control. If not that's why the AI is reversing your assignments. You can also disable AI promotion demotion.

The AI is doing nothing more than alerting you to something that you may want to fix but there is no requirement that you fix it.
IMHO, the best way to approach this problem is to look at the minor league team in question and figure why the AI is playing someone there who isn't really suited to that level. Usually, it's because your organization has an overall weakness related to the position that guy plays. But it could also be that he's the best option for filling a hole in the roster regardless of position. My approach is to hire a minor league FA or trade for a minor league player who might be a stronger player at that level (or at a higher level, since the impact would cascade down the ladder). You may note that the AI trades minor league players all the time (and, of course, hires them from the FA list, including for your own minor league teams). That is how it tries to fix these things in other team organizations. |
