I have great hopes for this game... Seems to have the potential to become everything I ever wanted out of a hockey manager game, even if may not get all the way there on day 1 already.

I am looking forward to the next few weeks as more information comes out about the game. I can honestly say that I like the direction that Sebastian and the team are taking, and when you combine that with the success and growth of OOTP over the last few years and the great community here I'm excited for the final product (even though the first version will not have everything, it will defiantly be a solid start to the franchise.)
"Whatever we are calling it hockey" is at the top of my list of upcoming titles

Cool Arca. From previous posts from Sebastian and co. It seems leagues such as the French won't make the initial version of the game.. but know how customisable the database should be the league should be able to be made playable! which team do you follow?

something that would be nice is if a player doesn't play for a full season (injured) for it to name the team he was contracted with and on his stats say "did not play" or something like that and for it to still name the team. Don't like how the years just skip.
Also in a somewhat related note, will we have the ability to stop all play for a full season or more in the NHL? lockout...(i'm just being half-serious...although it would be cool to be able to cancel a season and watch some of your star players go to leagues overseas and see how they play, but i saw it in 2004 and do not to care to see it again in real life )

(There are three NHL seasons which fall into this category: 1991-92, when there was a ten-day strike in April 1992 but all affected games were rescheduled; the 1994-95 season in which a lockout shortened the season to 48 games; and of course 2004-05 when a lockout caused the entire season to be lost.) |

perhaps just changing the number of games in the schedule would work for the time being (if it is customizable), although players won't be free to play elsewhere but you won't get any games played. Naturally you'll just simulate the entire season as there wouldn't be anything to do. Sadly the league does have a history of lockouts as mentioned by Le Grande Orange.
nevertheless I think we all can agree though that there better not be a lockout this year...so far, it's not looking so great. Also Fehr's setup an NHL Allstar vs KHL Allstar series in case the lockout happens...his way of getting fans on his side i guess.

from the sounds of things seems like the financials could be very different once this new cba gets done...hopefully it will be applied to this game in a patch
a patch before i have a bad feeling this game will be released before the deal gets done. I hope i'm wrong...

did anyone know this new CBA would bring on huge front loaded contracts or long term contracts for player who are well over 37 when the contract expires? I doubt it...that was the GMs way of cheating the system to keep their players or sign big name players.things like a 4th year added to rookie contracts (which will probably happen) and a 5 year contract limit (which won't happen) will be released to the public for sure. Some things certainly won't but those big details will, they always do.
