New to the game and looking to pick things up quickly?

Just bought the game, I am pretty familiar with baseball and how organizations are run, but I'm looking for advice on if there is anything I can do to pick up nuances of OOTP quicker? Or maybe if there is an online "strategy guide" floating around somewhere? Or is this the type of game where I just need to play and learn from experience?

Heres a few things that might help ya.

It's the type of game you learn from experience. Start small, maybe use the 2012 MLB quickstart. Also for logos, jerseys and stadiums install and download the all in one mod from add ons central. Then start a new game and you will have the correct logos and jerseys.

Don't try to remember every feature at once - what you can do is once you start small, with the quickstart as recommended, or with a small fictional league, is gradually try to take in the various features in the game. A great place to start is just looking at the League Menu - top middle of the screen. You can get the Basics - standings, schedules, etc, Transactions, like trades, free agents, etc, History, and Info and Reports - just take a look in there at something that seems interesting and as you play gradually get a better mastery of what is available.

Also if you find a feature you like but have trouble remembering where it is, the game has a bookmarking feature. The icon at the top left next to the house lets you bookmark any screen in the game, and also keeps a list of what you have bookmarked.
