Thought I'd post this article.

It's on Cracked.com so it shouldn't be taken too seriously.

1 No idea about the wall, probably true though but just for security.

2 Yes CCTV cameras are everywhere over here, I work around 12 miles away and go past hundreds of them. In fact I live in a small village and I'd say there are around 50 within a mile of me probably more.

3 True there are lanes just for Olympic athletes, officials etc.

4 More than likely true, no reason for there to have been a military presence in London since the second world war.

5 True

London tower block residents lose bid to challenge Olympic missiles | Sport | The Guardian

In all it's all true but whoever wrote it does blow it out of proportions, it isn't a "wall" it's a fence and the car lane isn't for the "rich" it's for people involved in the Olympics.

No idea if this is true but I was listening to the local radio yesterday and some people (ex pats in Spain and France) had called to say they couldn't get a signal, anyway someone else phoned to say that because of the Olympics local radio signals had been cut for national security, sounds crazy but like I say not sure if it's true or not.

Funny you mention Dutch Hockey, we (little old lady) sent of for a few tickets. I sent for football, boxing and cycling (track), managed to get football but no boxing or cycling but she sent of for womens hockey and got a few so were going watching it this weekend. I did the usual and complained about going and watching womens hockey, her reply was "you never want to do anything I want to do" then the old male hormone kicked in "hmmm well toned women in short skirts running round" so I said sorry. She went of thinking she had won, while I sat there with a naughty smile on my face.

The all-around gymnastics system is screwed up IMO. The girl that got the 4th highest score doesnt get a chance for a medal because they only allow 2 from each country to advance. She is the current World Champion as well. Plus by having this decided in the team qualifying round it really put the USA team in an awkward situation.

Felt really bad for Wieber but she handled it in a classy way.

It's a complete joke. This is about competition.

The rule is in line with other sports in Olympics. For most sports, a country can only send two competitors. You can argue if the US can switch the athletes, but in Olympics a country with all the best athletes still don't get to send more athletes.

I noticed that those geniuses at NBC TV screwed up the graphic of the men's basketball groupings. Showed the flag of Niger for Nigeria. What idiots.

If you want a crazy story, check out the story about an olympic diver (Tom Daley or something from Britain) and a Twitter user named https://twitter.com/Rileyy_69

Just look at Rileyy's Twitter feed (even before the run in with the diver). The guy is a grade-a tool.

Is the c-word less of a vulgar word in Britain? He uses it a ton.

For a second in my life I wondered why I've never hit the twitters and facebooks of this world then I realised why, sadly swear words are becoming the norm more and more over here, so much so that peope have forgot what are swear words and what aren't. I'm not old nor a prude but sometimes wonder if it wouldn't be better to drop the bomb and start all over again.

Ruta Meilutyte from Lithuania won the womens 100m breaststroke, she's been over here for 3 years at the same school as Tom Daley so I'm wondering if we can claim a share of the gold in the medals table kind of like 1/10th or something

Is anyone else tired of the segment that NBC runs where they survey what is happening on social media?

If I wanted to know that, I'd be on social media.

I am watching on the television becuase I want to see Olympic competition not because I want to hear about what photo re-tweet is causing the most buzz!

Not so sure about that. The picture of her weeping in her coach's arms was a bit cheesy.

Also a bit cheesy is the usual media hysteria when, goodness gracious, Americans don't gold medal! Like it was a major failure for the men's swimming relay team to take only silver.

It's this stuff that makes me ashamed sometimes. To the point where I hope somebody kicks Team USA's butt in basketball.

What, I'm unpatriotic? Not really. I'm just tired of the conceit.

I've noticed that in UK and Australia that word is definitely a lot less vulgar.
