Help with stats and modifiers
I am attempting to create my own alternate baseball uniforms. My plan is fictional leagues, teams, minors, and my own development of how the game changes in terms of home runs, strikeouts, pitcher stamina, rotation size, etc. However, I want to use real players and will be importing them automatically as rookies.
My problem is that I am not really sure how to use the league totals and modifiers. I tried a couple of tests. I started a league in 1871 with the default teams, players, etc. for that year. First I simmed it regularly and recorded the league stats. Then I did the same thing but changed the league totals in the setup to represent the 2011 totals. I simmed the season and had very similar results. Then I tried it again but instead just changed the modifiers to represent 2011. Simmed, very similar results. Then I tried again but changed both the totals and modifiers to represent 2011. Simmed, and once again, very similar results. I am assuming the ratings that the 1871 players came in with (such as having low power numbers for position players, and low stuff for pitchers) had an effect on my results. However, the fact that there was almost no change in the simmed totals no matter what I did to the totals and modifiers in the league setup leads me to believe that I just don't understand how it works. Can anyone help me understand this so I am able to create my own fictional baseball universe, but with real players coming in at correct times? P.S. I've been posting alot of questions here lately. Thanks for the help and sorry for this one being such a long read! |

You may indeed be discovering that player ratings, as modified, will override settings in league totals. If your 1871 players have low power ratings, dialing up the league totals will not make them produce like Babe Ruth. The way I understand it is this:

Mister G,
Did you uncheck the 'Automatically adjust league totals for historical accuray' box on the strategy tab? I think that that might be your problem. James |
