Simming Forward and Erasing History: News not deleting?

I wanted to start my game in 2012 so I began in 1977 and simmed forward to the beginning of 2012. I erased all history, released all players and scheduled an inaugural draft. However, all the news stories are still around. How can I get rid of those as well?

Also noticing that the single game records aren't erasing. How can I get rid of those?

You have to go into the saved .lg folder and erase the various text files associated with news, boxscores, logs, etc. After you erase them, there will still be placeholders where the stories were, but the titles and content will be blank. Even after you delete everything you think is possible in the .lg file, some historical content remains in the game, like the prior season's record. It won't count against the overall franchise record going forward, but it still looks weird when you are in that first year of the "restart."

I don't have the game in front of me, but I believe the single game records can be cleared using an action on that screen of the game. When I get home I will look at the game and try to figure it out.

One other thing to consider - with 35 years of simming, erasing history and releasing players does nothing to retired players. You may want to clear your Hall of Fame and it is a good idea to delete all of the retired players.

Probably what he's looking for is to clean out the messages folder and delete messages.dat (the game regenerates it upon restart).
