Question about Talent Modifiers and Overall Ratings
I am playing a modern era game, and the one thing i hate about it is that players overall and ratings change day by day. I am using Phightin's setting for Talent modifiers but i really don't like them. I am looking for settings that ratings will stay the same for the most part of a full year then change. I know there was already a huge thread about the Ratings setup, but how can i set them that they are not changed day by day? Thanks!

Off the top of my head, the only way I can think to achieve that would be to set the talent change randomness and/or decrease the development/aging modifiers during the season, then change them back for the offseason.
But this isn't Madden, where players only improve/decline at specific times, and it isn't designed around that kind of scheme. |

Clarify for me. Are you saying that every player has ratings that change daily? I've played since v5 and never seen this. What type of league do you play? have you edited players? Added players?
Just my opinion of course, but I would never change development/aging modifiers, other than the offseason. Heck I don't change them more than once every 2-5 seasons. To continue my contrariness I don't think talent change randomness is as influential as many others on the forum do. Oh I notice you mention Phightin's settings. I'm of the opinion that the aging component may be too low. I also don't agree that the age distribution is accurate. However I didn't do the same work so I could be blowing smoke. ![]() Edit What box do you have checked?

Having the second box checked may be the source of your problem. When you rate players against the entire population that rating will be affected by the much larger pool and the possibility of changes in that pool. Try unchecking it and see what happens.

If you have the AI evaluation not pure ratings selected, and a large weighting given to stats over ratings on the next options page, you may get more fluctuations as well as the ratings are based more on form than base ratings.

While we're on this subject, exactly what does "Overall rating based on AI evalution, not pure ratings" mean anyway? I've never been clear on this.
From the manual: "By default, OOTP overall ratings are based purely on the player's pure ratings, and are not affected by the AI's evaluation of the player. You can change this to Based on AI evaluation if you want overall ratings to be based on the AI's evaluation instead." I find that explanation to be confusing and didn't tell me anything I didn't already know. What are the "pure ratings"? And what is the AI Evaluation? Does AI Evaluation = My scout? Does Pure Ratings = The numbers's he's put up? Or some other set of internal numbers only the game knows? If I go with Pure Ratings, does that mean I don't really need my scout? |
