Big League Baseball (1980s) looking for a few owners in transition to 13

Big Baseball League, a small 1980's fictional league (currently in Spring Training of 1982), is looking for a couple of owners as we make the transition to 13. The league is at 12 teams, but we’d love to find enough owners to expand to 16 soon (with a more long term hope of 24).

Our forums are located here: BIG Baseball League - Home
League Reports are here: http://www.danielwheeler.org/league/...e_100_home.htm

A few things about us:
  • We're a democratic league: Most league decisions are made by vote of the GMs.
  • We are a fictional league. We started in 1980 and have 1980 financial and statistical trends on. That means top salaries are not much beyond a million dollars, and 30 home runs is considered a lot.
  • Scouting is on, but set to highly accurate.
  • Injuries set to low
  • We run 7 days of game time 4 times per week, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday.
  • We use OOTP:OU - it's a great set of online utilities for OOTP that lets us run drafts, track exports, and much more!

Available teams are previewed in the next post.

A quick note: I'm not the commish but volunteered to handle the recruiting drive post. Feel free to post your interest in our league here or on our boards and we'll get in touch! BIG Baseball League - Home

All teams are currently full but we're looking for people interested in starting up new teams at the end of the season. See the last post in the thread.

Added one more team to the list.

In addition, feel free to take a look at some other information about the league here and some of the things that members, etc. have said: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...emocratic.html

Phillies taken. Still four teams left.

Seriously, folks, I was amazed at how fun the 1980s are (honestly didn't think I'd like it at first), and the laid back group of owners is a great group of guys. Give us a look.

Boston has also been taken. Three teams remaining and a week before the start of the 1982 season, our third!

Hey. I'm new to OOTP and might be interested in taking the Rangers. How often do you sim? What nights and what time? Do you use real or fictional players?

New players are certainly welcome and it's a nice fit for a smaller league. A new OOTP player just took over the Phillies, in fact.

As mentioned above, we sim four times a week T, TH, Sa, Su and while we use real teams the players are fictional. Our commish typically runs the sims in the evening sometime after 10 Eastern.

Thanks for the quick reply. I think while I'm learning I would prefer a historical league using real players. Good luck.

Still looking for two owners. We're two weeks into 1982 and Mariners are leading their division.

Ok, here's the deal ... we're full on GMs, but we're moving rapidly through 1982 (already into June) and expansion is something we most certainly want. Ideally I'd like to add 2 more teams this year, and then another 2 maybe in a few seasons so I can do 2 leagues with 2 divisions of 4 teams each.

If you have interest in starting up a new expansion team after the current season ends, let me know. I'd like to stick with MLB team names and cities, but if you want something different we can put it to a vote with the current GMs - we're a democratic league, after all!

Once again, the league URL is http://danielwheeler.org/
