If you had the 1st overall pick of a 2012 MLB fantasy draft (OOTP)...
Who would be your selection and why?
I would have to take Stephen Strasburg, guy is just an animal and will be an anchor for years if he can keep that elbow okay. note: this includes prospects!

If injury history is included, I would take Clayton Kershaw. Only 24. Incredibly dominant and no tommy John surgery.

In my ootp 11 MLB QS I chose Albert Pujols.. but in hindsight, Bryce Harper has been dominant the past 10 years.

Bryce Harper for me.
I'd take a position player rather than a pitcher with the #1 just based on the injury risk for any pitcher. Strasburg is amazing though if he doesn't get injured. He's listed as fragile but has pitched 220+ innings every season from 2012-2016 in my current game. (Ironically, Kershaw had to have Tommy John surgery, but that was a year after he posted a 1.65 ERA (!) 2013 season.) |

My ootp 11 MLB QS fantasy draft league:
Harper ![]() Strasburg ![]() Kershaw retired after only 4 seasons. The best pitcher has been Chad Billingsley and I've had him for 8 seasons. He has 188 W's. (I erased all the history before starting) |

I'm guessing Harper will be my first HOF inductee at some point.

Ryan Braun. Part homerism, but he's also a beast.

Mike Trout thank you very much.
Will be a perennial 30/30 threat and is a demon in center field. Even if he regresses in the second half he will still be rookie of the year, if not, then you can tack on an MVP award to the Rookie of the year. Has been awesome seeing both Trout, and to a lesser extent, Harper make an impact this season |

I know he's 27, but I'd go with Troy Tulowitzki. Short is one of the toughest position to field a great player. Usually you can find good offense or defense, but rarely both.
Like others have said earlier, I don't think I'd ever pick a pitcher in the first round of a fantasy draft. Last edited by Cod; 05-22-2023 at 08:28 AM. |

Think I'd have to go with Trout.

If is between Hamilton and McCutchen then it would have to be McCutchen.

Id take Trout as well.
He brings everything to the table. Average, Power, Speed, and defense. Nothing easier to build around than that. |
