There are a number of posts on this forum already showing the frustration in the time this version is taking. I am sure most would rather have the game released without a new feature than wait longer for it to be developed... This does not preclude a small feature update if time allows.
However, it is worth noting that as most of the game has been re-written and there are a number of changes, or if you like minor features. The skin layout is cleaner, there are table column selection tools, table column sorting, The ability to walk back through the rounds of the match looking at the stats etc. So no big AI features, but loads of little updates here and there.

When beta testing starts I will get a gauge for how much interest these minor tweaks will generate. So for those that say there is nothing worth upgrading for, I say it depends on your view. I feel the 2012 interface makes it easier to select/change/view information and therefore makes the whole playing experience smoother.

TB2012 (tb2.6) is the framework/interface update
TB2013 (tb3) is the AI and gameplay update

Its up to individuals to decide if its worth buying I hope they conclude that it is, as I think it is worth it plus it helps support TB2013!
There were a few things about 2.5 that annoyed more than a few players and they've been mentioned on this forum. If the new platform removes those bugs, or whatever they were, and makes the game run more smoothly and enhances gameplay with some fine tuning and minor upgrades then I'd be prepared to shell out the necessary jack to pay for 2.6. It'd be nice to have some little improvement or addition that didn't delay the release.

After 2.6 is out, we customers would like some conditional guarantee that version 3.0 will be a worthwhile improvement over 2.6. For years now we've been told that 3.0 would have a career option. Many casual visitors here have stated flatly that they won't even consider buying a future version of Title Bout that doesn't allow for that option. As for me, I'm not even sure what that would really entail. What elements could you add that would satisfy the majority of present and future owners who demand a "career" option?

I don't care about tracking purses or the accumulation of winnings. I don't want to form boxing "leagues" as though this were baseball. I don't really care about knowing what goes on in a boxer's private life.

A career option for me would be simply adding injury tracking and commission-enforced out-of-action timetables and reports so I know who can't fight. It might mean me selecting a limited number of fighters for my stable while other managers and promoters controlled by the AI would manipulate the hundreds of others. It would probably mean the AI adding fighters to the mix based on career start dates and pulling them out based on the auto-aging system. It would likely mean some sort of periodic "news" reporting of at least major fights, and some sort of graded scouting reports for potential opponents.

That's just me. I have no idea what percentage of the others would be happy with that. You just can't possibly please everyone.

I think you'd have to post possible options and ask everyone to vote on the four or five most essential that would definitely be added to the future version. This would satisfy the majority and limit your workload.

I agree with you Cap, a lot of what some people have asked for is not very important to me. That's just me. I also hope there is something new in 2012 but not expecting much. No you can't make everyone completely happy, I don't think I have had a computer game that was perfict. But to make this a game that can make some $$ it's needs to appeal to a broader fan base. With that said it's not an arcade type game and nor should it be! I just wish it would get released so they can start on 2013.

I do not care much about changes to the way a fighter looks on the fight screen. If I had my way I would replace the animation with just a simple picture of the boxer. It is important to me to make sure the way a fight is simulated works and that is what I love about TBCB. One thing that has always bothered me is the way TBCB tracks disqualifications. Please make this correction before releasing any new versions.

Keep up the great work

Thanks

I agree that animation is not that important to me either. I may be in the minority, an actual picture of the boxer would not bother me. I very much like what Cap had to say in his last post. If they keep the current ring view I think the boxers should at least be the color to match each boxer. Thats just me...

I have to smile. You can't please everyone? Of course you can. Everyone here would warmly welcome any new functionality, be it injury tracking or a rudimentary financial system or anything else.

Giving your customers a reason to be excited about your product is never a bad thing. They talk about that during the first hour of the first day of Marketing 101. Businesses should always strive to avoid even the perception that they are taking their [actual or potential] customers for granted.

I like the progress that I have seen. Props!!!!

I am in no hurry to rush anything as what we have now is entertaining. At least better than watching real life fights currently.

I would rather wait to implement everything that can be implemented to please as many fans as possible and then release. Don't just do an overhaul of looks and release. Thought they are nice, still would like more and wait on the release.

Just a suggestion

Maybe if we had an actually functional csv import/export feature we could solve some of the data issues sooner. It might promote some interesting "MODS" for the game as well.

I have been working on the data updates recently. I have yet to do the csv option, so could you tell me whats wrong with the 2.5 feature and how you think it should work pls. I will consider your comments when I implement this feature.

Paul,

Unless I am punch drunk, I believe that 2.5 will really only export and that export is flawed because headings and their columns do not line up properly. There is a thread about this somewhere and I will try to find it if you need me to. If importing is presently possible, I may have missed that boat!

Thanks for all your effort.

No. Not yet. Maybe this year. There are five months left, so it's a distinct possibility.

It would be great to be able to export CSV, edit it in Excel and import it back in ... everything should be there including fight results and records ...

I was impressed with everything, very much looking forward to the 3rd version hoping to see different promoters pop up and detailed stories and what not...

I have no worries over the fight engine, what I saw from what was posted was very solid.

Misalignment has already been mentioned, but I'll second looking into that.
Also, KO and TKO are exported with the data. Can you please add columns KO and TKO against?

If a total stoppages category can also be created (KO+TKO; for and against) that would be nice, but if it had to be one or the other, I'll take the other stuff first.
