Minors & regions

I'm working on setting up a world league, based on six geographical regions with each having a AA and SA minor league. I was doing Europe, and most of AA and all of SA are based in the home cities of the ML team. Is that by design or am I going to need to tweak them?

Edit 1: Yes, I tried to randomize cities and that didn't do anything. It's not a game-breaker for me, just wondering.

Edit 2: It happened with the Europe, Africa, and Asia at-large regions. My best guess is a lack of cities in those regions?

I tried to do something similar with a Canadian league as a minor league. I think it may be impossible to have a minor league with a different nationality from the parent major league.

Feeder leagues with a different nationality are possible, I think.

I don't mind if the minor-league cities are forced to be in the same nation as the ML team (and I've justified the behavior I'm seeing in my own mind for immersion purposes). I can't imagine Helsinki is the only city in the world XML file for Finland though (for example).

Minor-league issue aside, I think this is a rather interesting setup. I have six major leagues, one for each continent + Oceania. Each has a AA and SA level minor league team. The leagues are associated, and the top 2 by winning percentage get a bye in the playoffs. 16-team leagues, no divisions or playoffs for now. No trading between leagues, no shared draft.

The interesting part is that while I turned international free agents OFF, I left create/maintain hidden players ON while putting in place no foreigner limits. What this does is let teams scout nations even outside their region for players. I think of it as my Brooklyn Pit Vipers finding a previously-unknown gem of a player (in this case, a potential stud SP from Japan) that was not garnering any draft interest in his current region.

I believe the lower sets of minors are in the same city as your major league club because the database simple ran out of cities in the region. I've noticed this once when I set up a large-ish British league with 3 levels of minors. After all of AAA and half of AA I got "London AA" and "London A" instead of Liverpool or something.

More often than not I like my minor leagues to be in the same city, that was it's easier to track minor league players and what organizations they've played for. Outside of the U.S. I don't know my city / state / province / whatever geography

I thought much the same thing, but I looked at the database for Finland and there are a ton of cities that could have been used.

I rationalized it as the clubs wanting to keep those players close to home, while others were willing to have them further out.

Espoo ought to be in there. It has a couple of hundred thousand people.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.

Maybe the city / town isn't big enough to be considered for that level of baseball?

That's going to end up in the Guinness Book of Records as biggest guess on an internet forum

Edit: Although it doesn't get much smaller than short A or rookie ball

It may be a weird bug/glitch. I may start a test universe with small leagues all over Europe, Africa, and Asia and see what happens.

Make sure your database it ok too. There may be an extra comma or some formatting miscue that causes the game to ignore half of it
