I'm not sure if it's fair to call this a bug or not, but it's been a problem ever since OOTP3.
Playing with scouts ON, and making a trade... when you select "add player" from the opposing team, then choose to view the "batting (or pitching) talent" (or ratings)... (I'm currently playing with ratings off so I choose batting talent). In any case the talent ratings of coarse come up. It says scouting by: (your scout). But once you left click into a player, then right click back, that players ratings change (some go up, others go down). Click on the next player and the same thing... I'm assuming one set of ratings are the "actual" ratings & the others are the scouts (I'm not sure in which order though). Cant this be fixed??? so that we only see the scouts ratings? In the mean time... which set of ratings are my scouts? before of after I view the player? p.s. If I'm wrong in my assumption could someone explain why the ratings change? Thanks - Ed [ 06-07-2002, 04:41 AM: Message edited by: edm ] |

so this isn't a bug? or does it just not bother anyone else?
then could someone please let me know why the scouts ratings change even though it says both results are done by my scout? What ratings are really *my* scouts? please someone, I have my current season on hold at the deadline. I wanted to find out before I made a deal. appreciate it. [ 06-10-2002, 01:53 AM: Message edited by: edm ] |

I'm not completely sure, but I'm almost positive that the other ratings you see are the other team's scouts, not the actual ratings. If I am correct, then it is the first set of ratings that you see that are your scout's opinions. I just tested that theory out by trading a player in a solo league to another team. The first set of ratings I saw matched with the ones I saw when I checked him out on my team transaction roster. Therefore, I am inclined to believe that I am correct in thinkiong that the first set of ratings you see is your scout's opinion.
Hmm...I repeated myself several times there didn't I. Oh well.

thanks for the reply hellfrozeover. I wonder if it's like that for any reason. I mean is there any advantage that it would be this way? or is it just the way it was coded and can't be easily fixed?

I believe that is a 'feature'.
I have no idea why it is like that. Maybe Steve could comment on this?
