OOTP 13 Career Progress Thread

I'm into July 2017 with the Mets. Fred Wilpon died and I edited the new owner to be Jeff Wilpon. Slightly more stingy with money, but because we're doing well and bringing fans to Citi Field, he's allowed us to have a $156,000,000 budget. We're paying out 115 mil in salaries, including the 21.9 mil salary of King Felix, acquired for 3 top prospects from the Mariners in 2013 as part of my rebuilding plan.

I have also managed to get the most out of guys with limited ability, guys like Joe Panik and Joshua Satin have been tremendous. I have also successfully resurrected Huston Street's career. Acquired after being thrown away by the Braves in 2015, Street has arguably been my most reliable reliever out of the bullpen, stabilizing the bridge to young closer Cory Jones. Jones has 105 saves over the past two seasons (50 in 2015, 55 in 2016).

Unfortunately, our farm system isn't as good as it used to be, but that's a proponent of me drafting near the end of the first round because I've had the best record.

I'm currently working with the 1962 Mets, 8-12 and in ninth place at the 20 game mark. Picked up LeRoy "Satchel" Paige from the Indians, amazing he was listed at the age of 55 (thought of the box office boost he'd give a bad team). After a good start, he's slumped to an ERA of 10.00 and will probably be trade bait as the season progresses. Gus Bell has been my best hitter so far, .297/3 HR's/8 RBI's.

Preseason predicitions put us at 81-81 and 4th in the NLC behind Milwaukee (84-78), St Louis (86-76) and Cincinnati (92-70) who they predict will boast the best record in the NL and second only to the Rays (96-66) in the league.

Our owner seems to back this up as he is expecting .500 ball for the season.
Already signed Soto to a three year extension but other notables up for free agency at the end of 2013 are Marmol, Kerry Wood and Matt Garza who went 11-12 with a 3.12 ERA and is asking for $51m over 3 years!

Didn't have the best Spring Training, and is with AAA Iowa, LaHair (was marginally better) is on a short leash to start the season, just gonna see how it goes.

Started a Twins game in 2012. Had the 2nd overall pick and went on to lose 101 games in the 2012 season, so I got the 1st overall pick in 2013. Then improved to only 95 losses and got the 2nd overall pick in 2014. So it's been a rough few years for the Twins.

Just completed the 2013 rookie draft, sitting at 27-25 3.5 games back of the Reds in second place, a game ahead of the Cardinals and Astros in joint third place.

Adrian Cardenas leading the club in Batting AVG with .309
Brett Jackson leading the club in Home Runs and RBI's with 11 and 34 respectively
Ryan Dempster (2.56), Matt Garza (2.83) and Ervin Santana (3.39) all under 4.00 in ERA

With the 7th pick overall we selected CF Salvador Cruz, a 23 year old outfielder who play a little 3B as well out of Baton Rouge. Rated at 70/80 he may see time this season in the majors and could displace DeJesus or Mather from the starting line up as we continue to get younger.

There's a couple of excellent ones done buy guys in the community. Try Kalama or NABA. Look in the OOTP mods section. Pre-done and ready to roll.

Just finished the 2019 season with the Texas Rangers. First positive surprise during the season: my 25 year old middle reliever learned a new pitch with a rating of 7 (on a 1-10 scale). He now has a 10 fastball, a 6 cutter and a 7 slider. With plus control, plus movement and plus-plus stuff and really good stamina he worked his way to the top of my starting rotation.
He probably thought that this isn't enough for one season. In game 5 of the World Series against Cincinnati (home game for the Reds) he hit a home run in a thrilling 8-6 victory. That was the final game and the Rangers won the series 4-1.

All Star Game break see the Cubs sitting at 43-45, 9.5 GB of the Reds but only 3.5 GB of the Marlins in the wild card race.

Two Cubs make the ASG,

CL Derek Holland, 33 appearances, 4-1 record, 21 saves with a 1.00 ERA.

CF Brett Jackson, 85 games, .305 BA, 15 HR, 49 RBI and OPS of .943.

Lost ground on the Reds and others with a 10-17 June, but have started July well going 9-5 before the mid-season break.

Sitting at 64-63, owner was expecting playing .500 ball this season so he is happy. Currently 13 games back of the Reds and 7 back of the Brewers but more importantly only 5.5 back of the Marlins for the second wild card spot.

Put in a strong run for a wild card spot and even held the second spot for a couple of days but lossed a couple of players to injury, most notably Brett Jackson mid-September and we faltered. Still a good season playing >.500 ball.
Rizzo was called up and in his 93 games with the Cubs he hit .298, 27 HR, 71 RBI.
Best FA signing of the season was Derek Holland posting a 9-4 record with a 1.10 era and 38 saves, Marmol won't be a Cub next season.

This year I decided to revive my dormant European league. It's a league of one division with 20 teams, 19 from Europe and one from the US, each with players only from their nation and no minor leagues. Top 2 go to first to five wins playoff series.

An active off season this time around after cutting a lot of dead money from the organisation last year we were in a position to make a move in the FA market.

December saw us trade Bryan LaHair the expendable 1B with Rizzo's performance in the 2013 season to the Columbus Blue Claws for RF Will Venable. In a minor deal Gerardo Concepcion (SP) moved to Cleveland for SP Jeanmar Gomez.

The big deal was on December 9th as Free Agent SP Josh Johnson signed a 6 year deal for $114,000,000 and immediately become the ace at the top of the rotation.
Christmas Eve we signed Yohan Flande (SP) to a one year deal and in February we signed RF Michael Burgess to a 1 year deal.

Spring Training was a success in the fact we finished second (13-11) behind the Cardinals (15-9).

Pre season predictions see us winning the division with a 89-73 record. Other divisional winners are Tampa Bay, Minnesota, Los Angeles (A), Washington & Los Angeles (N). Worst team predicted as the Columbus Blue Claws.
