Waiver pickups/DFA/40 man roster question
Hi there,
I picked up a couple of young hitters with good potential from the waiver wire and there were placed in DFA. I wanted to assign them to my minor league teams and I was told they needed to be on the 40 man roster since they had Major League contracts. So I did that. Now they are still marked as DFA and when I try to put them on a minor league roster OOTP says "Move Players to the lower section of this page in order to remove him from the secondary roster." Never mind the terrible grammar of this sentence. How do I continue here? Some background info: I turned on Waivers part way through the season (I didn't realize they weren't on) and so that may be causing problems. Thanks in advance! -Bill |

Sounds like those player may be out of option years, which means they cannot be assigned to the minors while on the 40-man roster. You should be able to check this by looking at the player's card for how many option years they have left (if any).

That was going to be my question. Have they passed through waivers successfully yet? That's probably why they were on waivers in the first place; the previous team wanted to move them down, but they're out of options so have to go through waivers successfully first.

Each player has 3 minor league option years left. They're both young prospects.

What happens if you right-click and choose to demote from there? I just ask since it sounds like you're trying the drag-and-drop method, which should work but may not be for some reason.
