New to the game need help with GIMP

I just bought this game last night. I downloaded GIMP to do my own logos. My problem is I am trying to make the edges of my logos disapear so I can put them on my hats but it is not working. I have figured out how to do it per se but when I save it as a jpg the edges are there. Any ideas?

Don't save the images as jpg, save them as png. The edges are showing up because jpg does not support transparent backgrounds.

Better yet, download the cap and jersey templates and really go to town! Gimp is an awesome little program once you figure the **** out of it.

Can you use gimp to alter ballparks too? I have a cuban league where I want to put the Cuban flag on the dugouts.
