Hall of Fame Standards?
First post here. Let me start by saying that OOTP is by far the most addictive thing on my iPad and is easily my favorite sim on any platform at the moment.
HOWEVAH....I am incredibly frustrated by something that happened recently: I am twelve years in to a fictional league and my star 1B retired. He ended his career with a career .280 BA, 470 HRs, ~1800 hits and ~1300 RBIs. He won one MVP, 2 Gold Gloves, and was a 7 time All Star. He also won 4 "World Series" titles (although I don't think that is weighted). He did NOT get into the HOF. That was surprising enough. But in the same season he retired, another 1B left the game. The other guy ended his career with a career .310 avg, just under 400 HRs, ~1500 hits, and ~1000 RBIs. Also a 7 time All Star. He won one World Series, zero Gold Gloves, and two MVPs. "Other Guy" got in to the HOF WTH???!!! I commend the design team for making a game that makes me care so much that my imaginary first basemen is getting screwed out of his spot in the imaginary Hall of Fame, but what kind of calculation is at work here that a player at the same position with a superior resume statistically would be passed over in this case? Would that second MVP really weight that much? |

I'm not sure of the criteria but check out Fred McGriff. The number could be the BA.

Did he play his entire career in the league. You can only have players who were drafted enter the HOF.

I just checked it: Player 1 makes it to the HOF because of his AVG. Awards, titles and Allstar nominations are not taken into account.
It is the same code as in OOTP 13. Maybe the HOF standards are to high?

It almost makes less sense in comparing the two when you let us know that awards don't matter. ![]() And I definitely think that things like "MVP" and All Star appearances and winning a "Third Round" should be considered as well if possible. It's a sim and i think all fans can agree that HOF voters take those things into account. Again..fantastic job. If this game weren't so engrossing I wouldn't even care. |

And they weren't rookies?? That's odd. The first people always for me were people who played their entire career.

Too low actually. 2000+ hits and 300+ batting avg are both automatic Hall of Fames. So far, the system seems to be the same as the one on OOTP13 default, so check that if you want to see what qualifies for the HoF

WHich makes this even more odd. If 2000 Hits or 200 Wins is an automatic HOFer, then why not take the awards into consideration? There's a guy in who played til he was 42...never had a "great" season, never won even a Batter of the Week, but he made the HOF just by standing upright for 20+ seasons. |
