Trouble importing individual players from the database

Hey, all:

I've had no trouble importing individual seasons (or rookies for subsequent seasons) into the game, but I can't get individual players in. I go to the Free Agents screen and click on "import player from database," but the message always comes up "Cannot find player ID."

It's not a major thing -- I imported 1901 and am simming straight through to present day, keeping control of the Pirates. I'm only up to 1908, but looking ahead, I'd like to ...well, I'd like to integrate the leagues as best as I can before 1947. Which means, say, importing Satchel Paige into a season sometime in the 30s and making him 21 or 22 years old.

I've tried the following: last name only; first and last name; last name, first name; and S.Paige (the format shows up for rookies being imported before a new season).

Am I missing something? Is it even possible to do what I want to do? And the Baseball Reference doesn't happen to have Negro League stats, does it? (I mean, as much as anybody has Negro League stats.)

yes you can import indivually but you need to use his id. If you open the Master.csv file in wordpad you will see what im talking about.
You will see
LahmanID,Year,Team,Lg,DIV,G,W,L,Pct,Std,Half,Order ,PlyrMgr,PostWins,PostLosses
cravebi01,1871,TRO,NA,,25,12,12,0.5,6,0,2,,,

Just use the same path as if you were importing a year but when it asks for the id, you would type
cravebi01 for the above player and whatever year you want provided he played that year. The 1871 was just the examples debut year.

Make sure you have closed the master.csv file before doing the import or the game will have problems accessing the database.

Thanks much. I'll try it when I have time tonight. It was driving me crazy, and they don't yet have the roster tutorial up on Big City Baseball.

Anyway, I'm anxious to see how it works. I'm not out for total realism, just for fun. And I'd like to see how many wins Paige can get (hypothetically, of course) if he's a Big League starter for 20 years, instead of a reliever for 5 or 6.
