Play at the Plate Baseball: New Fictional League w/Inaugural Draft

If you're looking to get in on the ground floor of a modern fictional league, starting with the inaugural draft, check us out! You'll have a chance to build your organization from the ground up: name your team, choose your logo, build your ballpark, and draft your team.

We're looking for interested and active GMs, but no experience with OOTP 13 or OOTP is necessary. I only ask that you commit to being active and around at a minimum: export regularly, check-in at the forums, and respond to league questions and trades. We hope to see you at Play at the Plate!

About the League:
The league if currently set up and ready to go for the inaugural draft. We'll be using OOTPOU tools to assist us through the first thirty rounds. In addition, 32 years have been simmed with the history and records kept for the last 12, so you'll have a clear history on each player you draft (though whether people want to keep these records and history after the draft will be up to the GMs). A inaugural season draft plan and schedule will start once all 20 teams are filled.

Additionally, this is a league that I hope will be for the people that participate in it, with their input shaping it as it goes on. I've set up structures and groundwork that I feel are accessible and make the game interesting, but I'd really like this to be a consensus league as things continue. I'm hoping together that we create a league that provides fun for many seasons.

A bit about me:
I've been an assistant GM in one other league, but this is my first full go. While I'm sure there will be a few initial growing pains, I learned a lot from my previous experience (as well as other leagues I've been in) and you'll find that I'm willing to work hard and create the best environment possible for everyone to have fun. I think that the initial work I've put into setting things up shows that. As I have the summers off (middle school teacher), I've obviously timed the league launch so that I have the most time possible to get things off to what I hope will be a great start.

My first baseball sim was a Apple IIE game called Microleague Baseball. In the real world of baseball, I've been a Twins fan since I was younger, and was in 6th grade when they won the 1987 World Series and feel incredibly fortunate to have seen them win a second one in 1991. Target Field got me back into baseball much more actively (and sort of indirectly led me to OOTP) Though, now around here we're pining for the days of Puck and Herby. My four-year old daughter keeps me excited about them as she doesn't quite realize how awful they are (she even went as Joe Mauer for Halloween, sideburns and all -- her choice!) Beyond baseball, I'm an avid sci-fi fantasy reader/geek and play video games in my spare time.

Thanks so much to the people that responded so far with interest and some good questions. I'll be sorting through the emails momentarily and getting back to people. It looks like we have at least another 6 confirmed interested and another half dozen or so who I'll be getting back to on questions they have had. I'll update things when I have a solid number.

Here are some items it might be helpful to add here:
Teams
1. The teams in the reports are not the teams we'll start the season with. They are simply placeholders for now and their finances should be ignored.
2. Team regions are really up to you. I've no problem if they are from out of country of completely fictional. In fact, a little variety here might be a lot of fun.

Finances:
1. Finances are set to modern (2012) settings
2. I did make adjustments to where revenue comes from and the luxury tax in order to hopefully keep an even playing field for a longer time. For details on that see below.
3. Several/most aspects of team finances will be equalized after the draft, but will develop from there. Details on this can be found here the last post: http://ootppatp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=13

Things are filling up fast! We've filled 11 confirmed spots with 2 more pending (pending=people who had various questions before committing).

Two locales have been spoken for:

Pennsylvania Dutch
Las Vegas

I can't be the only one that finds this funny, right?
