When you've left your star player in the game too long

Hi All,
So the game was a blowout and I kept telling myself to replace my star players but waited and waited. Norberto Flores had a single, home run and a couple walks and I promised to take him out after his next at bat. Well, he never made it, fracturing his thumb making a great catch, out for 5 weeks.

Then there was the time, on the last day of the season, my star first baseman was in the lead for the batting title. He insisted on playing. He wouldn't win the title by sitting on the bench, he told me. In the middle of the game, when he had the title sewn up I decided he'd come out after his at bat. He hit a double and injured his leg sliding into second. Out for the entire postseason.

Please tell me this has happened to you.
Please tell me I'm not alone.

happy gaming,
Frank
